THE ROLE

Reporting to and assisting the Senior and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Manager in overseeing daily operations related to the management of Consultants and Contractors' occupational safety and health management systems in the construction industry. This involves executing duties efficiently and ensuring strict adherence to the Client’s OSH management system requirements, ADOSH SF applicable Codes of Practices, directives from UAE Authorities, and other regulations, aligning with KBR’s Zero Harm and Courage to Care philosophy.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Implement OSH programs, processes, and strategies over designated geographic areas or construction projects under the guidance of the KBR Senior and OSH Manager.

• Interface regularly with project, OSH, and construction site management teams, participating in collaborative efforts and working independently when required.

• Observe OSH standards on construction sites, identify deficiencies, and communicate effectively using emotional intelligence to address complex OSH issues.

• Organize and deliver OSH workshops, training, coaching, and administrative activities across projects, including making presentations.

• Ensure compliance with UAE OSH legislation and client requirements through project risk management, audits, reports, and initiatives.

• Coordinate weather monitoring and emergency responses at sites.

• Participate in incident investigations to determine root causes and implement organizational improvements.

• Monitor the performance of consultants and contractors regarding occupational safety through inspections, audits, campaigns, and training, focusing on proactive incident prevention.

• Work with the OSH Manager to systematically improve OSHMS implementation.

• Conduct regular OSH inspections and develop strategies for safety improvements.

• Support contractors and consultants in implementing safety policies and procedures.

• Ensure effective communication of safety information and development of action plans with OSH teams.

• Gather data and prepare occupational safety statistics reports.

• Review and ensure compliance of contractors’ OSH, logistics, heat stress, weather, waste management, traffic, fire, and emergency plans.

• Provide technical OSH expertise and training to staff.

• Liaise with client OSH representatives and authorities regarding OSHMS requirements.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Mandatory PMC/Consultancy experience.

• At least 12 years of OSH experience in construction, including 5 years in a senior OSH role, with relevant degrees or certifications such as NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.

• OSHMS ISO 45001:2018 Lead Auditor Certification with auditing experience.

• Preferred ADOSH SF Practitioner certification.

• Strong report writing and data analysis skills.

• Valid safety training certificates.

• Experience with UAE major construction projects, especially in Abu Dhabi.

• Experience certificates from previous employers detailing roles and responsibilities.

• Proven experience in implementing OSHMS and a proactive professional attitude.

• Proficiency in MS Office.

• UAE Driving License.
