Job summary

GEMS FirstPoint School - The Villa in Dubai is seeking an enthusiastic Nursery Teaching Assistant to join our Nursery team. You will support high-quality care, learning experiences, and EYFS-based activities, ensuring children's safety and development in line with UAE regulations.

You will work closely with the Nursery Teacher, assist in preparing engaging indoor and outdoor learning environments, and help monitor children's progress and wellbeing through observation and documentation.

Qualifications

• CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education or equivalent.
• Previous experience in an Early Years or Nursery setting.
• Good understanding of child development and EYFS framework.
• First Aid and Safeguarding training, or willingness to undertake training.
• Experience supporting children with a range of learning and developmental needs is desirable.

Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our Nursery team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality care, support, and learning experiences for children within the Nursery, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), school policies, UAE regulations, and best practice.

Key Responsibilities

Childcare & Learning

• Support the delivery of the EYFS curriculum through high-quality interactions and engaging learning experiences.
• Work alongside the Nursery Teacher to deliver age-appropriate activities that promote children's learning and development.
• Observe children's learning and contribute to assessment records and learning journeys.
• Support children's communication, language, social, emotional, and physical development.
• Promote children's independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
• Assist in preparing and maintaining an enabling learning environment, both indoors and outdoors.

Health, Safety & Wellbeing

• Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating learning environment.
• Follow all safeguarding, child protection, and health and safety procedures.
• Support children's personal care, hygiene routines, and wellbeing needs.
• Respond appropriately to accidents, incidents, or medical concerns, liaising with the school clinic where required.
• Promote positive routines relating to healthy eating, rest, and wellbeing.

Teamwork & Communication

• Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, and other members of staff.
• Build positive relationships with parents and contribute to effective home-school communication.
• Attend staff meetings, professional learning, and training as directed.
• Support school events, performances, workshops, and parent engagement activities.
