Position

Pediatrics Nursing Manager

Position Purpose

Plans, implements, supervises, and evaluates the delivery of patient-centered care within the established institutional policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards of professional nursing practice in the Pediatrics Clinic. Coordinates care across disciplines and manages resources efficiently to ensure optimal patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate the delivery of patient-centered care within institutional policies and nursing standards.
  • Coordinate patient care needs with different disciplines, ensuring collaborative relationships and effective teamwork.
  • Manage human, financial, and other resources, while fostering professional development for oneself and subordinates.
  • Participate in strategic planning and foster interdisciplinary and collaborative relationships within the team.
  • Enforce Joint Commission International (JCI) requirements, including but not limited to International Patient Safety Goals and national and international standards.
  • Assist nursing staff in developing clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills through case consultations, clinical demonstrations, case reviews, and bedside rounds.
  • Act as a role model for nursing practice standards and philosophy.
  • Ensure nursing practice covers the physical, psychological, social, and cultural dimensions of care, considering the developmental and maturational needs of pediatric patients.
  • Assume responsibility for infection control, patient safety, and comfort.
  • Provide input in formulating patient care policies and procedures.
  • Oversee collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare team for patient care management.
  • Evaluate all nursing activities related to patient care and progress toward desired outcomes.
  • Direct and guide the nursing team in applying outcomes and evidence-based practices in patient care.
  • Promote, oversee, and monitor patient and family education processes.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and documentation of all patient care, monitoring compliance and following up with staff to implement practices daily.
  • Demonstrate responsibility for meeting JCI mandatory education requirements (e.g., fire safety, infection control).
  • Collect and review data to enhance department services, recommending modifications based on Quality Improvement (QI) findings.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing and assist in resolving conflict among staff members.
  • Conduct and contribute to regular staff meetings and evaluations.
  • Coordinate competency-based validation of nursing staff for unit-specific procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments (Human Resources, Clinical Educators, etc.) to develop and coach subordinates toward achieving unit goals and objectives.
Professional Experience
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of nursing experience in Pediatrics Nursing.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of managerial experience in Pediatrics Nursing.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA).
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
