Overview

Purple Rock IT Solutions is seeking a skilled Network Engineer – Event Deployment to join our team. In this role, you will design, deploy, and manage temporary network infrastructures for high-profile events and exhibitions. You will work with Fortinet firewalls and Ubiquiti UniFi access points/switches, ensuring secure, high-performance connectivity under tight timelines.

This role requires adaptability, hands-on expertise, and the ability to deliver in fast-paced event environments.

This position will be offered on a contractual basis with the option to transition into a full-time role. A minimum contract period of 6 months will apply.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, deploy, and configure temporary wired and wireless networks for events and exhibitions.
  • Manage uplinks, ensuring redundancy and load balancing.
  • Install, configure, and manage Fortinet firewalls for network security, segmentation, and traffic management.
  • Deploy, optimize, and troubleshoot Ubiquiti UniFi access points and switches.
  • Implement and manage captive portals for guest and user access.
  • Use reporting, monitoring, and testing tools to validate network performance and reliability.
  • Conduct site assessments to determine network requirements prior to deployment.
  • Collaborate with project managers to document network designs using Visio or similar tools.
  • Support integration of multi-vendor solutions within the event network setup (e.g., Cisco, Peplink).
  • Provide on-ground support during build-up, live event operations, and de-rig phases.
  • Ensure proper handover and post-event documentation of deployed networks.
  • Proficiency in Fiber connectivity, encompassing both single-mode and multimode connections.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience as a Network Engineer or in event/exhibition network deployments.
  • Hands-on experience with Fortinet firewalls (configuration, policies, segmentation).
  • Strong knowledge of Ubiquiti UniFi access points, switches, and controllers.
  • Experience implementing and managing captive portals for guest access.
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and standard networking protocols.
  • Proficiency with Visio (or equivalent tools) for documenting network designs.
  • Ability to use network performance testing and monitoring tools.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve complex issues quickly.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with ability to work alongside non-technical staff.
  • Experience with speed testing tools and expertise in Peplink devices.
  • Flexibility to travel and work extended hours during build-up and live event phases.
Preferred
  • Previous experience in UAE/KSA event deployments.
  • Multi-vendor network experience (Cisco, Peplink, etc.).
  • Knowledge of structured cabling for temporary setups.
  • Arabic language proficiency (advantage).
  • Relevant networking certifications (Cisco, Ubiquiti, Fortinet, or equivalent).
