Who we’re looking for:As a Mid-Level Mobile Engineer specializing in Android at VML, you will be a key contributor to the development of innovative and high-performing native applications. You will translate design and product requirements into robust, user-friendly Android experiences. Your solid understanding of the Android ecosystem, commitment to code quality, and collaborative spirit will be crucial in delivering exceptional mobile solutions for our clients.

What you’ll be doing:

  • App Development:Design, develop, and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. Ensure optimal performance, responsiveness, and adherence to Material Design guidelines.
  • Platform Expertise:Apply solid knowledge of Android frameworks, APIs, and the ecosystem to create robust and platform-optimized applications.
  • API Integration:Integrate RESTful APIs and manage efficient data exchange between the app and servers using libraries like Retrofit or Ktor. Collaborate effectively with backend engineers.
  • UI/UX Implementation:Implement responsive and visually appealing user interfaces using Jetpack Compose's declarative syntax, ensuring consistency with Material Design principles and accessibility standards.
  • Code Quality:Actively participate in code reviews, debugging, and unit/UI testing to ensure a high-quality codebase and performance optimization using frameworks like JUnit, Mockito, and Espresso. Contribute to maintaining coding standards.
  • Innovation & Best Practices:Stay updated with the latest Android technologies, Kotlin language features, and Google frameworks. Proactively suggest and implement relevant advancements and best practices.
  • Team Collaboration:Work closely with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and QA engineers, to deliver robust Android solutions. Contribute to technical discussions and problem-solving.

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven ability to contribute to the development of complex mobile applications with 3-4 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose development, including declarative UI design and state management.
  • Hands-on experience with Android application development, including understanding of XML layouts for legacy support when needed.
  • Solid understanding of Android-specific APIs, frameworks (e.g., Android Architecture Components like LiveData, ViewModel, Room, Navigation), and app lifecycle management.
  • Experience with architectural patterns like MVVM, MVI, or Clean Architecture.
  • Proficient with version control systems like Git.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline integration for Android app deployments using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Bitrise.
  • Familiarity with dependency management tools like Gradle.
  • Strong debugging skills using Android Studio's profiler and debugger.
  • Knowledge of performance tuning for Android apps, including memory management, battery optimization, and UI rendering.
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
