Job Description
- Engage in constructability reviews with engineering and production teams to ensure optimal approaches regarding material properties, availability, weldability, and inspection requirements.
- Develop material and fabrication specifications for components such as structural materials, rolled plates, profiles, and forgings.
- Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, and installation, ensuring specifications are met.
- Assist in preparing, checking, and approving engineering deliverables.
- Conduct studies on welding technology, corrosion, and material selection.
- Coordinate with design engineers, production teams, manufacturers, and fabrication departments to ensure adherence to best practices and standards.
- Plan and manage manpower and resources for the section’s operations.
- Lead and mentor a team of materials engineers.
- Support supplier quality through participation in qualification processes, surveillance, and inspections.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science.
- Chartered status (CEng) or working towards it, recognized by the Engineering Council.
- International Welding Engineer (IWE) preferred.
Experience:
- 12-15 years in FEED/EPC projects within Marine, Oil & Gas, or offshore energy sectors.
- 3-5 years in leadership or management roles.
- Extensive knowledge of metallurgy, corrosion, and offshore renewable energy equipment.
- Experience with procurement support for structural steel, forgings, piping, and subcontractor documentation review.
- Familiarity with industry standards (DNV, ISO, API, NORSOK, AMPP).
- Experience with offshore construction yards.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Knowledge of IACS requirements and classification standards.
