Key Responsibilities :
The Merchandise Planning Manager is responsible for monitoring inventory, optimizing stock levels, managing stock quality allocation across several brands, and scrutinizing the performance of existing products. He / she is responsible for deciding on the measures required to ensure a healthy stock level is maintained across brands while developing in-season forecasts and future merchandise plans.
Responsibilities :
Ensure sufficient inventory and stock levels to support sales, upcoming promotions, and events. Monitor product flows, measure success, and ensure product allocation or relocation between stores to improve stock rotation.
Optimize, manage, and monitor key metrics such as stock levels and availability, product flows, stock rotation, success, sellout, and margins.
Assist relevant stakeholders in the planning and buying process across all Direct-to-Customer channels, including forecasting and planning of product mix, category ranges, and stock allocation. Prepare, in coordination with brand managers and brand-focused merchandisers / planners, the end-of-season sales strategies and in season promotions strategies.
Analyze historical sales, stock, and margin data alongside current trends to identify risks and opportunities.
Generate data reporting and analysis to inform business results, re forecast projections, capture sales opportunities, identify risks, and align inventory strategies.
Review, optimize, and suggest different supply chain and inventory management models, such as door-to-door, central warehousing, and multiple warehousing.
Assist in setting price strategies to identify margin opportunities and risks.
Specific for Sports Direction : Analyze market trends to source new brands and product ranges, as well as review existing ones, ensuring the brand / product portfolio remains relevant to customers and profitable for the business.
Secure exclusive brands to stay ahead of the competition. Recruit, train, motivate, and evaluate the team to ensure that the department has the necessary skill base, and that staff are optimally motivated and enabled to maximize their potential and contribution to the company.
Education : Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Experience : Seven to nine years of experience in Merchandise Inventory Planning, or a similar role.
Managerial Experience : Four years of experience in a managerial role.
