Job description

The MEP (Mechanical and Plumbing) QA/QC Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all MEP systems and installations meet the required contract standards and specifications. The inspector will perform regular inspections, witness tests, and audits to maintain the quality and functionality of MEP systems. The role requires a strong understanding of MEP systems, industry standards, and quality assurance/control processes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Inspection and Testing
    Conduct thorough inspections of mechanical and plumbing installations to ensure compliance with design specifications, codes, and standards.
    Schedule and witness regular testing of MEP systems including HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and fire protection systems.
    Document and report any nonconformities or discrepancies found during inspections.
  2. Quality Assurance and Control
    Implement applicable QA/QC procedures and checklists for MEP systems.
    Ensure that all MEP installations comply with project requirements and industry standards.
    Monitor the quality of materials and workmanship used in MEP installations.
  3. Documentation and Reporting
    Maintain accurate records of all inspections, tests, and audits conducted.
    Prepare detailed reports on the quality and compliance of MEP systems.
    Communicate findings and recommendations to project managers, engineers, and contractors.
  4. Coordination and Communication
    Work closely with project teams including engineers, contractors, and other inspectors to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems.
    Provide guidance and support to contractors and subcontractors on quality-related issues.
    Attend project meetings to discuss QA/QC issues and progress.
    Stay updated with the latest industry standards, codes, and best practices related to MEP systems.
    Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
    Identify opportunities for improving QA/QC processes and procedures.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical or equivalent

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in MEP QA/QC inspection or a related field.

Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g. ASHRAE, NFPA, or other industry-related certifications) are preferred.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of MEP systems, construction codes, and industry standards.

Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Software Proficiency: Familiarity with QA/QC software and tools, as well as basic office software (e.g. MS Office).

Working Conditions

The role requires working on construction sites, which involves exposure to various weather conditions and physical activities. Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours to meet project deadlines is necessary.

Reporting Line

Reports to the QA/QC Manager or Project Manager.
