Job summary

Vhr in Dubai is seeking an MEP QA/QC Electrical Inspector specializing in lighting, small power and control systems for a 6-month contract. The role focuses on ensuring installations meet design specs, codes and safety standards on villa projects.

You will conduct inspections, witness tests, document nonconformities, and coordinate with engineers, contractors and project managers to maintain quality and schedule. On-site work with exposure to various weather conditions and extended hours.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 35 years of experience in electrical QA/QC inspection or a related field.
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA or other industry certifications preferred.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction codes and standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect electrical installations to ensure compliance with design specs, codes and standards.
  • Schedule and witness regular testing of electrical systems and document results.
  • Prepare detailed reports on quality and compliance of installations.
  • Coordinate with electrical engineers, contractors and other inspectors.

Position Overview

The MEP QA/QC Electrical Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all electrical systems andinstallations within a project meet the required standards specifications and codes. Theinspector will perform regular inspections tests and audits to maintain the quality andfunctionality of electrical systems. This role requires a strong understanding of electricalsystems industry standards and quality assurance/control processes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. 1. Inspection and Testingo Conduct thorough inspections of electrical installations including wiringpanels lighting and other electrical components to ensure compliance withdesign specifications codes and standards.
    • o Schedule and witness regular testing of electrical systems including insulationresistance continuity grounding and functionality tests.
    • o Document and report any nonconformities or discrepancies found duringinspections.
  2. 2. Quality Assurance and Controlo Implement applicable QA/QC procedures and checklists specific to electricalsystems.
    • o Ensure that all electrical installations comply with project requirementsindustry standards and safety regulations.
    • o Monitor the quality of materials and workmanship used in electricalinstallations.
  3. 3. Documentation and Reportingo Maintain accurate records of all inspections tests and audits conducted onelectrical systems.
    • o Prepare detailed reports on the quality and compliance of electricalinstallations.
    • o Communicate findings and recommendations to project managers electricalengineers and contractors.
  4. 4. Coordination and Communicationo Work closely with project teams including electrical engineers contractors andother inspectors to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
    • o Provide guidance and support to contractors and subcontractors on qualityrelatedissues specific to electrical installations.
    • o Attend project meetings to discuss QA/QC issues and progress related toelectrical systems.
  5. 5. Compliance and Safetyo Ensure that all electrical work adheres to safety standards and regulations.
    • o Identify potential safety hazards and ensure corrective actions are takenpromptly.
    • o Conduct safety audits of electrical installations and provide recommendationsfor improvement.
  6. 6. Continuous Improvemento Stay updated with the latest industry standards codes and best practicesrelated to electrical systems.
    • o Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills andknowledge.
    • o Identify opportunities for improving QA/QC processes and procedures forelectrical systems.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent in the Electrical Engineering Experience: Minimum of 35 years of experience in electrical QA/QC inspection or arelated field. Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g. NEC NFPA or other industryrelatedcertifications) are preferred. Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical systems construction codes andindustry standards. Skills: Excellent analytical problemsolving and communication skills. Software Proficiency: Familiarity with QA/QC software and tools as well as basic officesoftware (e.g. MS Office).

Working Conditions

The roles require working on construction sites which involves exposure to variousweather conditions and physical activities. Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours to meet project deadlines.

Reporting Line

Reports to the QA/QC Manager or Electrical Project Manager.
