Job summary

Al Rostamani Group of Companies LLC is seeking a QA/QC Engineer for MEP to oversee quality, compliance, and performance on construction projects in the UAE. You will lead inspections, testing, and commissioning activities, ensuring adherence to codes and drawings.

You will review submittals, coordinate with contractors and consultants, and maintain comprehensive QA/QC documentation to support successful project handover.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 2–5 years QA/QC experience on Electrical/Mechanical systems.
• Experience in large-scale construction projects involving Electrical and Mechanical works.
• Familiarity with IEC, NEC, BS, ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, and related standards.

The QA/QC Engineer - MEP will be responsible for ensuring the quality, compliance, and performance of all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) installations and systems within construction projects. The role includes overseeing inspections, testing, and commissioning activities; verifying materials and workmanship; ensuring adherence to project specifications, approved drawings, applicable codes, and industry standards; and maintaining comprehensive quality documentation. The QA/QC Engineer will work closely with project teams, consultants, and subcontractors to resolve quality issues, uphold safety and regulatory requirements, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality MEP works.

Job Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Control

• Develop, implement, and maintain the QA/QC Plan for MEP systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, contract requirements, and applicable international standards and codes (IEC, NEC, BS, ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, etc.).
• Review and approve MEP submittals, shop drawings, method statements, material approvals, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Conduct regular quality audits and inspections of Electrical and Mechanical installations, ensuring all works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Prepare and submit QA/QC reports, inspection reports, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), including corrective and preventive action plans.

Inspection & Testing

• Oversee the inspection and testing of Electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, earthing, low-voltage systems, generators, and switchgear.
• Oversee the inspection and testing of Mechanical systems, including HVAC, chilled water, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, pumps, ductwork, and piping systems.
• Coordinate and witness testing and commissioning activities for MEP systems, ensuring all tests are conducted in accordance with project specifications and approved procedures.
• Ensure all MEP materials and equipment are inspected, approved, and compliant with project requirements before installation.
• Verify the correct installation, testing, and commissioning of Electrical and Mechanical equipment and systems.

Compliance & Standards

• Ensure compliance with all applicable local regulations, client requirements, and international standards for MEP installations.
• Stay updated with industry standards, codes, regulations, and best practices related to Electrical and Mechanical works.
• Ensure all MEP installations comply with health, safety, environmental, and sustainability requirements.
• Monitor adherence to approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, and quality procedures.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, material approvals, certifications, and QA/QC documentation.
• Provide regular updates to the Project Manager on quality performance, NCR status, corrective actions, and inspection activities.
• Ensure all quality documentation, test reports, certificates, and commissioning records are properly maintained for project handover.
• Track punch list items and coordinate timely closure of quality-related observations and defects.

Team Coordination & Communication

• Coordinate with project engineers, site supervisors, consultants, clients, and subcontractors to resolve quality issues and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Support site teams in implementing QA/QC procedures, quality standards, and inspection requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure proper integration and functionality of all MEP systems.
• Participate in quality meetings and provide technical guidance on quality-related matters.

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

• Investigate quality non-conformities related to Electrical and Mechanical installations and conduct root cause analysis.
• Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring quality issues.
• Identify potential quality risks proactively and recommend mitigation measures to minimize rework, delays, and cost impacts.
• Promote continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project quality, efficiency, and compliance.

Job Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Experience

• 2 to 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) for Electrical and/or Mechanical systems, with at least 2 years in a QA/QC Engineer or supervisory role.
• Experience in large-scale construction projects involving Electrical installations (power distribution, lighting, low-voltage systems, generators) and/or Mechanical installations (HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, piping, pumps, and associated systems).
• In-depth knowledge of Electrical and/or Mechanical installation standards, testing methods, commissioning procedures, and applicable codes (IEC, NEC, BS, ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, etc.).

Skills

• Strong knowledge of QA/QC processes, inspection procedures, and quality standards for Electrical and Mechanical systems.
• Ability to perform inspections and testing of Electrical systems (power distribution, lighting, grounding, cable trays, switchgear) and Mechanical systems (HVAC, chilled water, plumbing, firefighting, ducting, and piping).
• Thorough understanding of applicable Electrical and Mechanical codes, standards, and industry best practices.
• Experience in testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting Electrical and Mechanical installations.
• Conduct root cause analysis for quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Inspect materials and equipment to ensure compliance with project specifications and approved standards.
• Prepare and review Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, quality reports, and test documentation.
• Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT), pressure testing, insulation resistance testing, continuity testing, and other relevant quality verification methods.
• Maintain quality records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Strong communication, reporting, and coordination skills with consultants, contractors, and project teams.

Certifications

• Professional Engineering certification or equivalent is preferred.
• QA/QC-related certifications and training are preferred.
• Certification in Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001 Lead Auditor/Internal Auditor, Six Sigma, or equivalent) is an advantage.
