Job summary

A leading construction consultancy is seeking an MEP Project Manager based in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will have 7–12 years of experience in managing large-scale projects and hold a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree. Responsibilities include managing contractors, ensuring project standards, and providing proactive reporting. This role requires excellent communication skills and knowledge of Primavera P6. A competitive salary package is offered with no remote work.

Job description
Overview

The MEP Project Manager is the interface between the Employer and the contractor and is responsible for the successful delivery of the project to the required standard and programme. He / she will need to have excellent communication skills and proven abilities to manage the main contractor subcontractors and the Supervision Consultant to ensure the project is delivered to the highest quality.

Key responsibilities
  • Works with the Planner to ensure effective planning for the project including production of Progress/Programme Reports, Construction/Tender programs, weekly lookahead programs and management of the critical path.
  • Monitors Supervision Consultants performance with respect to contractor/subcontractor submittals and QA/QC and recommends corrective action when required.
  • Develops and writes the schedule commentary that appears in the monthly progress and similar reports. Identifies and reports activities that have a critical or potential impact on the schedule and prepares and presents the Critical Items Action Report.
  • Assists in responses to FIDIC claim notices with respect to EOT claims and in preparation of Determinations.
  • Sets up and controls a strict regime to capture information of daily resources on site (main contractor and subcontractor labor, plant and materials) to help inform potential delay issues and to respond to claims as appropriate.
  • Ensures programme construction with correct logic and sequencing to meet contract requirements and constraints.
  • Maintains an understanding of the contract documents, codes of practice, standards and specifications.
  • Provides consistent and proactive reporting at project delivery team and business level.
  • Committ ed to anticipating and seeking out client needs both internally and externally.
  • Understands the financial implications of the methods and sequences of construction that are proposed and planned.
  • Able to analyze and advise project teams on programme risk.
  • Manages all key interfaces at project level.
  • Ability to review and propose programme recovery strategy.
Qualifications
  • Project experience: Theatre, Museums, Leisure and Entertainment venues (Amphitheater, Stadium, Auditoriums, Themed parks) or similar large-scale projects
  • Location: Candidates must be located in Abu Dhabi or be open to relocating to Abu Dhabi
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree essential.
  • 7–12 years of related work experience in Real Estate or Construction project management.
  • Knowledge of Primavera Enterprise Systems (P6) and Microsoft Project scheduling technology.
  • Proven ability to perform in a technical role, with good written and oral communication skills, and a thorough understanding of HSE and industry practices and regulations.
  • Fully understands all elements of MEP services.
  • Demonstrable experience of preparing Testing and Commissioning Plans and delivering on site.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering Real Estate and Infrastructure projects.
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Primavera P6.
  • Demonstrable knowledge/experience of successful project delivery of complex projects with multiple interfaces.
