Job description

MEP Engineer is responsible for planning and design in the area of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) system including developing policies standard, inspection procedure and evaluation tools for MEP matters along with prepare, review drawing, specification and cost estimates for the mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing.

The role includes the management of the MEP team to ensure that the day to day duties are performed professionally and expeditiously to support the ongoing progress of the project.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for implementations and monitoring of all mechanical related works at site as per approved drawings, methods and safety, ensuring all activities are well planned and coordinated.
  • Estimates, prepares, and requests assignment of resources such as workforce, materials, consumables, equipment, tools required for all Mechanical and related works, before execution. Plans and analyses all possible construction methodologies and recommends the best options to the MEP Construction Manager for approval, before execution at site.
  • Interprets construction drawings and studies the contract documents and applicable standards or specifications before execution of any jobs.
  • Coordinates and provides engineering and technical support to all the Mechanical workgroups at the site.
  • Plans the execution of all Mechanical related works and coordinates the works with Electrical and civil groups.
  • Assign targets for accomplishments and ensure objectives are met on a daily basis for all Mechanical groups at the site.
  • Submits all relevant monitoring reports on a regular basis or as required.
  • Supports the MEP Construction Manager in accomplishing all the goals and targets for the Mechanical groups at the site.
  • Ensures that all the works completed are per the approved construction drawings, contract documents, project specifications, and all applicable standards whether local, national or international standards.
  • Coordinates and supervises all Mechanical Works and equipment installation activities.
  • Attends regular meetings with the client and other disciplines to provide an update on project progress.
  • Pre-resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems at the site that may arise at any time.
  • Coordinates contractors in preparing the daily progress reports.
  • Able to lead site personnel to execute and complete the job on time.
  • Responsible for managing/adhering to any additional tasks given by the Chairman apart from BAU (Business as usual) activities.

Job Requirements:

Education and Formal Training

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or related field. Master's degree, a plus.

Work Experience

  • 8-10 Years of site experience preferably in gulf countries.
  • UAE large projects experience is preferred.
  • Previous Experience in Infrastructure projects such as new villas compound development or new city development.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Familiar with all the Mechanical Engineering methodologies as well as the corresponding equipment, materials, consumables, tools and workforce allocations related to Mechanical works for building projects.
  • Experience in basic design requirements, estimation, installation and all site activities related to all mechanical works for construction of large-scale building projects.
  • Well versed in interpreting and executing mechanical related drawings.
  • Proven ability to perform in a technical lead capacity.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in collaboration with different teams.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • High standard of excellence and attention to detail.
