Experienced MEP Design Engineer with a strong background in both mechanical and electrical engineering. The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing MEP systems for fit-out projects, such as restaurants and offices, with a particular focus on compliance with UAE standards and international design codes. The position is responsible for producing MEP Designs, MEP Standards, Cost estimates & MEP BOQ’s in line with the designs and other ad hoc requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Produce MEP Designs & BOQs as per the Design team’s requirements.
Produce high level / detailed estimates based on the requirements.
Conduct site visits prior to the design process and prepare detailed reports.
Ability to propose Value Engineering options to facilitate cost reduction.
Review and assess material submittals for compliance with specifications.
Conduct detailed reviews of shop drawings.
Perform MEP inspections on-site and prepare comprehensive reports.
Ensure all designs adhere to Americana MEP guidelines and industry standards.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical / Mechanical)
Knowledge of Word, Excel and Power Point is essential.
Knowledge of AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, HAP, Duct sizer , Pipe sizers is a must.
Experience:
Minimum 4-6 years of experience as a MEP Design Engineer.
Prior experience in Retail / Hospitality sector / F&B brands will be a plus.
Knowledge:
Excellent architectural drawings reading skills.
Excellent knowledge of MEP works and specifications (Both Electrical and Mechanical).
Good knowledge of MEP systems.
Good knowledge of Pre-Contract Procedures.
Good knowledge of AutoCAD.
Good knowledge of MS Office package in general and should be proficient in MS Excel.
Good knowledge of local authority requirement from MEP specifications and authority compliance context.
Staying aware of the latest construction technologies.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of MEP Design principles, techniques, and practices.
Proven experience in cost management and pre-design budgeting.
Ability to prepare pre-design estimates with minimal design information.
Ability to read Architectural / ID drawings and prepare MEP BOQs accordingly.
Perform detailed quantity take-offs, measurements, and valuations.
Prepare and review tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
Liaise with project managers, Quantity surveyors, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide accurate and timely financial information.
Ability to bring on the table innovative ideas to improve the efficiency of MEP services and construction quality of stores and ability to reduce the capex spend.
Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and company policies.
Good knowledge of MEP Equipment and materials and ability to assess and approve material submittals.
Collaborate with architects, designers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
