Position Overview
To coordinate the MEP works on a site, ensuring all work is completed safely, on time and in budget
Responsibilities
- Cost control with Commercial department
- Overseeing the resolution of design discrepancies through all areas of the project though interfacing with Design department and hence facilitating timeous information for construction works.
- Promptly advise relevant Project Team members when aware of MEP issues that are likely to affect their responsibilities on project
- Ensure the satisfactory installation, completion, testing and commissioning of the MEP Services on the project
- Facilitate and ensure the satisfactory completion of the QA (WIR) documentation and inspections for the MEP works
- Support the Project Team with any MEP information affecting the progress of the construction works
- Promptly advise affected Project Team members on any Authority issues or requirements associated with the MEP works
- Promptly advise and assist the Project Team on any cost or time issues associated with the original or revised MEP Design information
- Arrange and coordinate any 3rd Party MEP approvals or inspections not in the scope of the MEP Subcontractor
- Liaise with Authorities where required for any site MEP related issues
- Support the ALEC Authorities Department with any information or support required for ongoing and final completion authority issues
- Assist the Project Planner with MEP issues associated with the programming of the works
- Assist the Project Planner with assessments of completed MEP works and activities
- Contribute MEP related information to any periodic project reports produced by ALEC Project Team
- Assist with planning monitoring and coordination of the temporary MEP services with the FMD team. FMD to maintain responsibility for these works
- Assist with the coordination of the site, ensuring that any other temporary works and MEP sub contract works do not clash
- Participate in regular internal meetings held by MEP Managers
- Participate in development of ALEC Project Team site specific safety procedures
- Review and ensure ALEC responsibilities in regards to MEP works are carried out in accordance with the Head Contract requirements
- Check and advise Document Controllers of any discrepancies in MEP Design Document registers
- Ensure complete working set of up to date MEP Design Documents are available for the use of MEP personnel for area of responsibility (Originals and registers to maintained by Document Control Section)
- Review the project MEP Design Documents and associated documents from other design disciplines for area of responsibility
- Promptly identify and resolve any problems or queries on the MEP Design Documents with the Consultants for area of responsibility
- Coordinate MEP design information and associated requirements with ALEC Design Department (e.g. Builderswork, Work By Others etc.)
- Ensure that ALEC entitlement to any cost or time claim in regards to the MEP works are adequately recorded for administration by the commercial team
- Participate in ensuring compliance with Head Contract health and safety objectives
- Ensure the MEP Subcontractor issues Contract and Working Programs in accordance with the project requirements
- Ensure that the MEP Subcontractor is working in accordance with the latest construction program requirements
- Ensure all MEP sub contract submissions are carried out in accordance with the construction program requirements
- Coordinate adequate access with the construction team for execution of the MEP works
- Ensure the MEP Subcontractor is issued with the latest relevant design information
- Check and advise Document Controllers of any discrepancies in MEP Subcontractor installation document and submission registers
- Ensure that a complete working set of latest MEP Subcontractors installation documents are maintained for area of responsibility (Originals and registers to maintained by Document Control Section)
- Review Subcontractors installation document submissions to ensure compliance with ALEC and Consultant’s requirements
- Review Subcontractor’s Installation documents to identify and resolve any civil, architectural or MEP coordination issues
- Ensure that instructions from ALEC and Consultants are issued to and complied with by the MEP Subcontractor
- Verify that MEP “As Built” documents are provided by the MEP Subcontractors in accordance with the project requirements
- Ensure that all Subcontract MEP NCRs are promptly closed out in area of responsibility
- Ensure MEP Subcontractors compliance with ALEC/Project/Subcontractor safety requirements
- Ensure that the Subcontractor has satisfactorily coordinated their installation documents in accordance with the available construction information
- Ensure that any temporary access requirements in the finished works are coordinated by the MEP Subcontractor in accordance with the project construction program requirements
Requirements
- At least 5 years relevant experience in Construction and MEP works
- Preferably degree / diploma qualified
- Specialist knowledge of at least one of areas, mechanical, electrical or plumbing
