Job description

IIQAF is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Records Clerk to join our growing team. The Medical Records Clerk will be responsible for maintaining accurate and complete medical records for our organization. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a healthcare setting and a strong understanding of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately and efficiently organize and maintain medical records for patients and the organization
  • Review and verify the completeness and accuracy of medical records, ensuring that all necessary documentation is included
  • Protect the security and confidentiality of all medical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations
  • Retrieve and release medical records to authorized personnel and patients as requested
  • Process requests for medical records and ensure timely completion
  • Maintain and update electronic medical record systems, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the data
  • Assist healthcare providers in locating and interpreting medical records
  • Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries related to medical records
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate and complete documentation of patient care
  • Participate in quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with regulations and standards

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in health information management or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in medical records management or a healthcare setting
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and knowledge of HIPAA regulations
  • Proficient in using electronic medical record systems and other computer applications
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must maintain the highest level of confidentiality and ethical standards
