Job summary

Saint Francis Health System is seeking a skilled medical coder to review medical records and assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes in a fast-paced environment. This role emphasizes adherence to current coding and billing requirements to ensure correct claims submission.

Ideal candidates hold CCS, CPC, BCHH-C, RHIA, RHIT, or HCCS certification (or achieve within one year) and possess strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes, plus Microsoft 365 and encoder proficiency.

Qualifications

• GED or High School diploma.
• Certification (CCS, CPC, BCHH-C, RHIA, RHIT, or HCCS) or eligible within 1 year.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
• Microsoft 365 proficiency and basic encoder skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review medical record documentation to assign codes.
• Apply current coding and billing requirements for claims.
• Monitor coding performance and resolve denials.
• Perform charge corrections and rebilling for denials.
• Develop preventative measures from denial data analysis.
• Advise providers on documentation and billing policies.
• Educate staff on coding changes for compliance.
• Stay updated on coding rules and periodicals.
