Job description

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Engineering Department, the Mechanical Technician optimizes the performance of mechanical products, machinery, and equipment. They assist the Mechanical Supervisor in analyzing performance results and maintaining mechanical equipment and machinery throughout the hotel. The Mechanical Technician reports to the Mechanical Supervisor.

As a Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  1. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, pumps, and water heaters to ensure efficient operation.
  2. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment and systems, including air conditioning units, ventilation systems, boilers, and water supply lines.
  3. Respond promptly to breakdowns or urgent maintenance requests to minimize service disruptions for guests and hotel operations.
  4. Assist in the installation and commissioning of new mechanical systems and equipment in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
  5. Ensure all maintenance activities follow hotel safety protocols and local regulatory requirements, maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.
  6. Coordinate with other engineering and facility departments, maintaining clear records of repairs, inspections, and inventory of mechanical parts.

As a Mechanical Technician, we expect from you:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in the Engineering Department of a hotel.
  • Knowledge of engineering operations in the hotel industry.
  • Previous experience in the operation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain commercial equipment and related installations in the hotel.
  • High school diploma or GED, and/or an associate degree supplemented by specialized training in mechanical trades.
