Job summary

Client of Thomas Thor Associates is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician for nuclear power plant outage maintenance at Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on hands-on maintenance of valves, pumps, chillers, diesels, HVAC and filtration systems during outages, with strict adherence to safety and nuclear standards.

Qualifications

• Technician certificate or equivalent in mechanical maintenance.
• Nuclear Outage/Shutdown experience is a mandatory.
• Hands-on experience in valve maintenance, pump overhauls, rigging, lifting, lubrication, and steam/compressed gas systems.
• Proficiency in using mechanical hand tools, measuring/test equipment, and interpreting technical drawings.
• Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective and major overhaul maintenance on mechanical systems including valves, pumps, chillers, diesels, HVAC and filtration systems.
• Conduct rigging, lifting, alignment and bolting/torquing operations safely and efficiently.
• Inspect, repair and replace components such as gaskets, seals, filters and strainers.
• Execute diagnostic testing and maintenance for diesel systems ensuring optimal performance.
• Support surveillance and periodic testing as required for plant maintenance.
