Role Overview:

Orbit ISS is looking for a Mechanical QC Inspector (Commissioning) HVAC & Rotating Equipment with experience in mechanical and HVAC inspection within the oil & gas, shipbuilding, or industrial sectors. The ideal candidate should be skilled in stage-wise inspections, alignment checks, and testing of rotating machinery and mechanical systems. Knowledge of international standards (IEC, ASME, ISO), precision tools, and coordination with third parties is essential. Strong understanding of safety protocols, technical documentation, and quality procedures is required. Experience in ship repair or newbuilding is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Follow all applicable departmental policies, procedures, work instructions, and standards to ensure consistent and controlled execution of work.
  • Adhere to data security and information protection protocols to safeguard intellectual property and company information.
  • Ensure all mechanical and HVAC works comply with project specifications, codes, and procedures.
  • Perform stage-wise and final inspections for mechanical equipment in workshops and onboard vessels.
  • Inspect installation and alignment of rotating machinery such as pumps, engines, thrusters, propellers, and skids.
  • Witness and verify chock fasting, torque tightening, and load testing of cranes, pad eyes, trolley beams, etc.
  • Inspect and document material verification for mechanical equipment and accessories.
  • Carry out inspections on HVAC systems and associated mechanical works.
  • Utilize precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges during inspections.
  • Witness mechanical quality testing including hardness, crush, and surface roughness.
  • Coordinate with classification societies, third-party agencies, and ship superintendents to ensure compliance and resolve quality issues.
  • Issue occurrence reports for non-conforming activities, initiate corrective/preventive actions, and verify satisfactory rework.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inspection documentation and records.
  • Comply with company safety, quality, and environmental management systems.
  • Stop work and report any unsafe practices or potential hazards immediately.
  • Participate in safety training and initiatives.
  • Ensure personal and team compliance with all safety procedures and protective measures.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor or QC Engineer to support project goals and team efficiency.
  • Contribute to maintaining a productive, cooperative, and safe work environment.
Requirements:
  • Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the same role.
  • Familiarity with shipbuilding or oil & gas standards
  • Proficient in English (spoken and written); additional language skills are an advantage.
  • Capable of writing clear technical reports and documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems inspection and testing techniques and HVAC/mechanical drawings.
  • Familiarity with international quality standards and shipyard practices.
  • Understanding of classification society requirements and marine quality norms.
  • Strong interpersonal and team coordination skills.
