Job summary

Duncan & Ross in Dubai seeks a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in static equipment and packaged systems for oil & gas, petrochemical, power or heavy industry projects. You will lead design, procurement support, and vendor inspections to ensure compliance with international codes and project requirements.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in mechanical engineering, strong ASME/API/TEMA knowledge, and PE/chartered status preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering; Masters preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in static equipment and/or packaged systems.
• Strong knowledge of international standards and codes (ASME, API, TEMA, etc.).
• Experience with EPC projects in oil & gas, petrochemical or power industries.
• PE license or Chartered Engineer status preferred.
• Experience in modularization and skid-based systems is a plus.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute the engineering design and specification of mechanical static equipment such as: Pressure vessels, Heat exchangers, Storage tanks, Columns/reactors, Filters and strainers.
• Oversee engineering of mechanical packages including: Air compressors, Chemical injection skids, Fuel gas systems, Water treatment units, HVAC packages.
• Prepare and review mechanical datasheets, technical specifications and material requisitions.
• Evaluate vendor documents, technical bids, and equipment drawings.
• Coordinate with procurement, project management and construction teams to ensure smooth execution.
• Participate in design reviews (HAZOP, 3D model reviews), FATs and vendor inspections.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (ASME, API, TEMA, PED, etc.).
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning and start-up phases.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the discipline.

• Proficiency in engineering software tools such as PV Elite COMPRESS HTRI AutoCAD or similar
• Experience with EPC projects in oil & gas petrochemical or power industries
• Excellent communication and coordination skills
• Professional Engineering (PE) license or Chartered Engineer status (Preferred)
• Experience in modularization and skid-based package systems (Preferred)
• Field/site experience during construction or commissioning phases (Preferred)
• Familiarity with quality and inspection processes for mechanical equipment (Preferred)
