Assignment Description

  • Work as a key member of the Mechanical discipline team.
  • Interface with AIP Commissioning and operations teams to ensure clear guidance regarding scope of work, especially for Mechanical MC and punch close-out.
  • Monitor and collaborate with Vendors, JV ATS, Project procurement expeditors, and package responsible engineers to ensure Mechanical packages are completed (MC).
  • Ensure proper working practices for Mechanical packages/equipment installation, alignment, and leveling, in accordance with Vendor requirements and Mechanical completion standards.
  • Coordinate with the MC team to ensure all Mechanical equipment are properly scoped in PIMS for MC close-out.
  • Assist Contractor in arranging necessary condition assessment inspections by contractor and/or OEM, in collaboration with AIP operations.
  • Work with AIP Regulatory Compliance & Verification Lead and Contractors to define and execute required compliance and verification activities within the mechanical discipline.
  • Review and comment on mechanical discipline documents prepared by Contractors/vendors.
  • Review Mechanical design documents for operability, functionality, accessibility, and maintainability, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, class, flag, and contract requirements.
  • Monitor Contractor’s Mechanical activities to ensure regulatory and contractual compliance, and compatibility of vessel systems and equipment.
  • Participate in meetings and inspections, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), worldwide.
  • Contribute lessons learned inputs to the AIP Project Management Team.
  • Close assigned Technical Queries (TQ) and Action Tracker items in PIMS or MOM.
  • Liaise with subcontractors/vendors at the shipyard for daily construction activities.
  • Perform other roles as required.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines within the Project Management Team to ensure quality and progress.
  • Ensure good communication and cooperation between the base organization and the project.
  • Manage assigned mechanical packages during construction and commissioning, ensuring activities conform to contract, Project Execution Plan, and legal standards, prioritizing health and safety.
  • Report delays or issues to the Construction Manager / Mechanical Lead.
  • Document scope changes and report to relevant managers.
  • Report design failures or gaps, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, or extensive experience to compensate for lack of formal education.
  • Recent experience with major mechanical and rotating equipment packages.
  • Experience handling Hull equipment packages.
  • Background in mechanical equipment design and operations.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in Mechanical package engineering, with at least two recent projects as Mechanical discipline engineer.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills for multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Experience in Middle East/Southeast Asian shipyards is advantageous.
  • Organized, systematic, and flexible approach.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
