The purpose of this job is to lead mechanical maintenance during shift operations, acting as the shift leader for mechanical maintenance at a Phosphate Beneficiation Plant. The site is greenfield and requires guidance and support to achieve safe and efficient operation. The role involves hands-on competence to resolve oncoming problems with your team swiftly. Work will include tasks typical of a greenfield site, such as training and coaching team members, and developing maintenance processes. As a senior team member, you will drive the development and creation of plant maintenance structures during shifts.

Since the work will be in an isolated location, we expect the candidate to have previous experience of similar work and the ability to work with the team on-site alongside customer crews.

Key responsibilities include:

• Act as a senior mechanical technician during shifts, organizing reactive and preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Manage and execute all mechanical work, shutdown activities, and operational projects in a planned and organized manner. This includes fitting and repairing mechanical parts of plant machinery, and performing maintenance on chutes, flotation cells, conditioners, pumps, pipes, grinding mills, thickeners, filters, conveyors, and other critical areas to ensure continuous operation.
• Ensure effective performance of all mechanical maintenance workers and shift foremen.
• Lead and motivate personnel to achieve high performance levels and ensure proper training of maintenance staff.
• Maintain safety standards in mechanical maintenance according to company policies.
• Ensure a safe work environment and compliance with all HSEQ regulations and standards, including statutory requirements. Regularly review and implement improvements to occupational health, safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Ensure plant instructions are followed and coordinate with other team members to optimize plant performance.
• Maintain good communication with other site personnel to ensure maintenance activities are well understood within the context of overall site operations.
• Perform all tasks in a planned and organized manner, following instructions and completing work on schedule.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the maintenance area.
• Collaborate with other maintenance personnel to optimize plant performance and support continuous site maintenance development.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager.

Basic requirements:

• Excellent service attitude with a strong customer service focus.
• A proactive safety mindset.
• Strong hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance.

Technical competencies:

• Mechanical education.
• At least five (5) years of relevant experience in metallurgical or mineral processing plants, such as phosphate beneficiation or gold processing plants.
• Basic knowledge of ore processing and procedures for routine inspections, maintenance, and safety manuals.
• Ability to motivate and lead others, and evaluate shift worker performance.
• Ability to establish and implement plans.
