Job description

Job Purpose:
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all maintenance operations across the organization to ensure that machinery, equipment, and facilities are consistently maintained in optimal working condition. This role is critical in minimizing downtime, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintenance Strategy Development

  • Design and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies, including preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Ensure equipment longevity, reduce unplanned downtime, and optimize operational performance.
  • Supervise, mentor, and coordinate a team of maintenance technicians.
  • Provide training, set performance goals, and ensure adherence to safety and operational standards.

3. Budget and Vendor Management

  • Manage the maintenance budget effectively, controlling costs and allocating resources efficiently.
  • Establish and maintain vendor and contractor relationships to source cost-effective solutions and services.

4. Inspection and Compliance

  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations, and implement corrective actions as needed.

5. Emergency Response

  • Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests and equipment breakdowns.
  • Coordinate quick and effective repair solutions to reduce operational disruption.

6. Inventory and Records Management

  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment histories.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and ensure timely procurement of required tools and supplies.

7. Reporting and Continuous Improvement

  • Generate detailed maintenance reports and provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a maintenance management role with experience in managing facility and equipment maintenance.
  • Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM) or Certified Facility Manager (CFM) are a strong advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and general facility systems.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead maintenance teams and foster a culture of accountability and safety.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and other maintenance tools.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience with budgeting, cost control, and resource planning.
  • Safety Compliance: In-depth understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
