Job Purpose

Lead mechanical welding and machining activities for turbine and refuel services, including contractor-provided services, at Barakah Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) during outages to achieve the outage plan and schedules, ensuring overall business performance objectives are met in accordance with NAWAH standards and procedures.

Key Activities, Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Support the objectives of the corporation and its Emiratization strategy through effective knowledge sharing and building internal capabilities within the UAE.

Activity: Excellence and Quality Management

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by eliminating waste, adhering to operational procedures, fostering innovation, problem-solving, teamwork, and complying with Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Provide and receive constructive feedback, striving to meet quality standards and stakeholder expectations.

Activity: Welding and Machining

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Perform welding, inspections, and repairs to maintain equipment functionality and support safe operations.
  • Conduct machining repairs and replacements to ensure system integrity and safety.
  • Manage and coordinate welders and machining operators to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations during outages.

Activity: Welding and Machining Support

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Perform engineering activities related to welding and machining to maintain system fidelity and safety.
  • Establish performance monitoring plans to minimize corrective maintenance.
  • Review plant design changes or temporary modifications to ensure safety and operational excellence.
  • Coordinate procurement of spare parts for welding and machining needs.
  • Develop and oversee installation and service contract documents and maintenance activities.
  • Review and update welding and machining procedures for relevance and availability.
  • Conduct periodic and surveillance tests to support daily operations.
  • Manage equipment and material master data for inventory accuracy.
  • Perform technical administrative duties as assigned to support daily activities.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Ensure personal responsibility for safety, following all HSE policies and procedures, reporting hazards, and avoiding workplace misconduct.
  • Adhere to security policies and procedures to ensure security compliance.
  • Follow business continuity plans to respond effectively to incidents and minimize operational disruptions.

  • Contribute to the development of UAE employees.

Professional Certifications

Minimum: Welding Certified

Maximum: N/A

Qualifications

Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related Science; 6-7 years of relevant experience, including 1 year in a nuclear power plant engineering environment.

Maximum: 9 years of relevant experience, including 4 years in PWR nuclear plant operations or related design, work management, or outage management roles.
