Job summary

Acme Automation in Dubai seeks a seasoned Mechanical Fabricator with at least 7 years of proven experience in structural steel and piping fabrication. You will read drawings, prepare fabrication layouts, and work in a fast-paced workshop and on-site environment.

You will conduct fit-up, operate fabrication machinery, ensure tight tolerances and QA/QC, and collaborate with welders, inspectors and the production team while strictly following safety rules and PPE requirements.

Qualifications

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication Technology, or equivalent trade certification.
• 7+ years proven experience as a Mechanical Fabricator in structural steel and piping.
• Experience in industrial, oil & gas, or construction fabrication workshop environments.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate structural steel components and piping per drawings, isometrics, and specs.
• Read fabrication drawings, GA drawings, isometrics, and P&ID.
• Mark, measure, cut, bend, drill, and assemble steel and pipe sections.
• Perform fit-up and alignment for welding prep.
• Ensure items meet tolerances, alignment, and QA/QC.
• Operate fabrication machinery and tools safely.
• Coordinate with welders, QC inspectors and production team.
• Identify and report material discrepancies or fabrication issues.
• Follow HSE regulations and use PPE.
• Maintain tools and work area in a clean, safe condition.

Job description

Responsibilities & Authorities

• Fabricate structural steel components and piping systems in accordance with drawings, isometrics, and specifications.
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, GA drawings, isometrics, and P&ID.
• Mark, measure, cut, bend, drill, and assemble steel and pipe sections using appropriate fabrication tools and machinery.
• Perform fit‑up and alignment of structural and piping components in preparation for welding.
• Ensure fabricated items meet dimensional tolerances, alignment and quality requirements.
• Operate fabrication machinery and hand power tools, cutting, grinding, drilling, bending equipment safely.
• Coordinate closely with welders, QC inspectors and the project production team to ensure smooth workflow.
• Identify and report material discrepancies, defects or fabrication issues.
• Follow all HSE regulations and use appropriate PPE at all times.
• Maintain tools, equipment and the work area in a clean, safe and organized condition.

Minimum 7 years of experience in structural steel and piping fabrication.

Strong ability to read and work from fabrication drawings, isometrics, and P&ID.

Skilled in the use of fabrication tools, machinery, and measuring instruments.

Good understanding of fabrication tolerances, fit‑up standards, and QA/QC requirements.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced workshop/site environment.

Physically fit and able to work in confined spaces, at heights, or in varying site conditions as required.

Committed to safe work practices and use of PPE.

Qualification
