Cost Estimation: Develop cost estimates for mechanical works and systems (HVAC, piping, plumbing, mechanical systems, etc.) based on project specifications and drawings. Review tender documents and prepare detailed mechanical estimates for various construction and manufacturing projects. Provide input for cost planning, monitoring, and control.
Material and Equipment Quantification: Review mechanical drawings and specifications to determine material, labor, and equipment requirements. Quantify materials and prepare Bills of Quantities (BoQs). Research and source the best quality materials and equipment at competitive prices.
Risk Analysis: Identify potential risks or variations in cost and recommend actions to mitigate them. Prepare risk analysis reports and highlight factors that could impact the project budget.
Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Liaise with vendors and subcontractors to obtain accurate quotes for materials and services. Ensure that quotes and bids meet project requirements and timelines.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of estimates, cost breakdowns, and correspondence with vendors or contractors. Prepare and submit cost estimation reports to project stakeholders and senior management.
Value Engineering: Suggest design improvements to reduce costs without compromising quality or functionality. Propose alternative solutions or materials where applicable to meet cost objectives.
Collaboration with Teams: Work closely with project managers, procurement teams, and other departments to ensure accurate and efficient cost estimation. Attend project meetings to discuss mechanical cost estimates and provide feedback on project scope and budget.
Post-Tender Support: Support the team during the tendering process by providing clarifications or updates as needed. Assist in reviewing final project costs and adjustments during project execution.
