Job summary

Khatib & Alami is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our infrastructure project team in Abu Dhabi. The role involves reviewing mechanical design and construction activities to ensure compliance with project specs, UAE authority requirements, and international standards.

You will supervise mechanical works, coordinate with civil, electrical, and structural teams, inspect installations, approve submittals, and participate in site meetings, testing, and handovers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is essential.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering.
• Experience in infrastructure projects and UAE-specific requirements.

Responsibilities

• Review mechanical drawings, specs, submittals, method statements, and shop drawings.
• Supervise and monitor mechanical works to ensure compliance with approved designs.
• Coordinate with civil, electrical, structural, and other disciplines to resolve technical issues.
• Inspect mechanical installations and systems to maintain quality standards.
• Review contractor submissions, RFIs, and material approvals.
• Monitor progress and provide technical input for construction issues.

• Review contractor submissions, technical proposals, RFIs, and material approvals.
• Monitor project progress and provide technical input to resolve construction-related issues.
• Ensure works comply with project requirements, UAE regulations, and relevant international standards.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, clients, and relevant authorities as required.
• Prepare site inspection reports, technical observations, and progress updates.
• Identify non-conformities and follow up on corrective actions.
• Participate in site meetings, inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within infrastructure projects.
• UAE experience and Abu Dhabi project experience is preferred.
• Strong experience in consultancy/supervision roles is preferred.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems associated with infrastructure, utilities, roads, drainage, pumping stations, or related facilities.
• Good knowledge of relevant UAE authority requirements, international standards, and project specifications.
• Strong technical, coordination, communication, and reporting skills.
• Ability to review technical documents and coordinate effectively with contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
