Job Description

Job Summary: Mechanical Engineer is responsible for coordinating the final electromechanical installation and station commissioning, and overseeing the maintenance, repair, and performance optimization of electromechanical equipment within the power transmission assets. This role contributes to the reliability and efficiency of the power transmission assets and related equipment. The Mechanical Engineer will also develop and implement maintenance schedules, troubleshoot technical issues, and adhere to safety and regulatory standards. The Mechanical Engineer will assist the Project Manager in coordinating all site construction and commissioning activities and, after energization, will assist the Maintenance Manager in organizing the maintenance activities required to keep the asset in sound technical condition, ensuring compliance with HSE standards and achieving the Project Company's performance indicators.

Responsibilities/Authorities:

  1. Ensure proper coordination on site as Company’s site representative of all stakeholders (Contractor, Owners engineer, client, etc.) for electromechanical installation activities and commissioning.
  2. Make sure that all maintenance activities are performed as per HSE contractual requirements and related laws.
  3. Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on electromechanical equipment in line with the recommendations and procedures from the original equipment manufacturers (OEM).
  4. Conduct first level of troubleshooting works to recover with minimal downtime the availability of the system.
  5. Perform diagnostic evaluations and fault analysis to identify and resolve technical issues promptly.
  6. Prepare, maintain, and submit maintenance reports, troubleshooting reports, and fault analysis reports.
  7. Issue daily work orders to the maintenance team and follow up on daily maintenance activities.
  8. Update maintenance records and documentation in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  9. Prepare and issue purchase orders for spare part replacement upon OEMs recommendations.
  10. Update the spare part stock through the CMMS.
  11. Ensure preventive maintenance on spare parts as per OEMs recommendations.
  12. Assist the maintenance manager.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in high-voltage electrical network operation, maintenance, or related field.
  3. Proficiency in diagnostic tools, maintenance software, and power transmission equipment.
  4. Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC) and safety regulations.
  5. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Ability to work in challenging environments, including field locations and high-voltage areas.
  8. Experience in maintenance of electromechanical systems for power transmission assets (mandatory).
  9. Experience in electromechanical installation and commissioning of power transmission assets (mandatory).
  10. Familiarity with HVDC or FACTS systems (preferred).
  11. Skills in fault analysis and diagnostics for electromechanical equipment.
  12. Experience in preparing documentation packages: maintenance reports, performance reports, and technical reports.
  13. Experience in maintenance planning and reporting in CMMS.
  14. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts precisely.
  15. Experience with field operations, installation, commissioning, or repair work on HV systems.
  16. Solid understanding of maintenance contracts, procurement, and vendor management for HV equipment.

Work Details: Primarily office-based with frequent travel to offshore and onshore facilities. Requires flexibility to work outside standard office hours, including weekends and holidays as needed. Call on duty.
