Mechanical Design Engineer - MEP

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our MEP team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing mechanical system designs for commercial, residential, and industrial projects, ensuring compliance with local codes, client requirements, and industry standards. You will work closely with architects, electrical engineers, and construction teams to deliver cost-effective and energy-efficient mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and develop HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical system designs using AutoCAD, Revit, and other design software.
• Perform heat load calculations, static pressure calculations, and equipment sizing using software such as HAP, DuctSizer, and PipeSizer.
• Produce detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications for tender, construction, and as-built documentation.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (architectural, structural, electrical) to ensure design compatibility and resolve design clashes.
• Review and verify design drawings, calculations, and BOQs for accuracy and compliance.
• Support site engineers with technical queries and review shop drawings and material submittals.
• Keep up-to-date with local and international codes (ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, IPC, etc.) and incorporate them into the design process.
• Attend design coordination meetings, site visits, and inspections when required.
• Provide value engineering and energy-efficient solutions to optimize system performance and cost.
• Participate in design reviews and risk assessments for new and ongoing projects.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in mechanical design within MEP consultancy or contracting firms.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and MS Office; working knowledge of design software (HAP, Elite, Hevacomp, etc.).
• Familiarity with international and local mechanical design codes and standards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience in high-rise buildings, commercial complexes, hospitals, or infrastructure projects is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
