Procurement Specialist Job Description
The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for selecting and evaluating suppliers, analyzing data to develop procurement strategies, and implementing these strategies in consultation with line managers. Key responsibilities include:
- Selection and recommendation of suppliers based on quotations received.
- Evaluation of new supplier accounts.
- Data analysis and strategy development.
- Strategy implementation with line manager consultation.
- Liaising with other Business Units (BUs).
- Purchasing high-value Capex items, including new vessels and major projects.
- Development and review of procurement standards and procedures.
- Recruitment of departmental manpower.
- Handling major Capex purchases and creating POs following procurement processes.
- Leading bunker procurement, ensuring adherence to procedures, market analysis, and compliance with international regulations.
- Negotiating and establishing contracts with key suppliers to optimize costs, quality, and delivery.
- Reviewing open requisitions and POs to ensure KPI compliance.
- Addressing day-to-day procurement challenges with stakeholders.
- Resolving issues related to POs and supplier payments.
- Supporting procurement performance reporting.
- Ensuring adherence to procurement procedures and implementing process improvements.
- Evaluating procurement procedures for compatibility with company and BU requirements.
- Ensuring all purchases comply with procedures and monitoring ongoing systems for continuous improvement.
- Procurement of goods/services based on complexity and price, maintaining standard templates and terms.
- Monitoring order expedition and import/export requirements to minimize delays.
- Ensuring legal compliance in import/export processes.
- Reviewing import/export requirements and minimizing delays in order processing and delivery.
- Conducting audits of agents as required.
