A major energy company in Dubai is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform mechanical repair and preventive maintenance tasks on-site and in the workshop. The ideal candidate will have a diploma in engineering and at least three years of relevant experience. Responsibilities include handling breakdowns, conducting preventive maintenance, and managing tools and inventory. A valid driving license is required.
Job Purpose
Under the general supervision of Maintenance Manager and within assignments allocated daily by Area Superintendent, the jobholder performs a range of predominantly mechanical repair and preventive maintenance tasks on site and in the Ghusais workshop.
Principal Accountabilities
a. On-Site Breakdowns and Repairs :
Undertakes a wide range of repairs on site by analysing faults, identifying defective parts, replacing components, checking settings, replacing motor assemblies, replacing bulbs and bulb holders, replacing light fittings, fluorescent tubes and bollard lights, replacing capacitors, repairing float switches and pressure switches, replacing generator belts, changing batteries, checking water, adjusting RPM, checking fire alarms, cleaning detectors, replacing break glasses, checking fire extinguishers, replacing defective fire extinguishers, replacing leaking taps and flexible hoses, repairing toilet flush mechanisms, rectifying water heater leaks, replacing thermostats and heater coils, threading and fitting pipes on pumps, installing tyremeters and compressors, conducting pressure tests with compressed air or Nitrogen, preparing reports on work done spares used, commencement and completion times, meter readings etc.
b. Outside Contract Jobs:
Assigns jobs to Contractors as per the established Rate/Maintenance Contracts. Follow up with Contractors for completion of jobs. Certifies satisfactory completion and close job cards. Assist Area Superintendent to develop quotes where a rate contract does not exist. The incumbent has to strive to minimize outsourcing of activities to keep the cost minimum.
c. On site Preventive Maintenance :
Keep schedule of Preventive Maintenance required for the sites assigned to him. Follow up with Contractors to ensure timely completion. Verify service reports for the PM jobs and carry out on-spot inspection for quality of work.
d. Workshop Repairs :
Carries out repairs in the workshop by removing equipment from site, carrying out workshop modifications on submersible turbine pumps and dispensers, fitting piping and electrical circuitry in accordance with Engineer’s or manufacturers drawings, bench testing preparing gate passes, moving equipment from stores to sites.
e. In-house Preventive Maintenance:
Operates a preventive maintenance programme by checking for leaks, checking flow rates, calibrating meters, replacing batteries, checking hose and nozzle condition, calibrating tyre meters, cleaning components and filters, topping up oil levels, replacing dials and bulbs, cleaning contacts, testing leak detector sensitivity, checking installations, flushing equipment.
f. Maintenance of Pick-ups :
Maintaining assigned vehicle by arranging routine schedule maintenance. The incumbent will be responsible to get periodic maintenance of vehicle done through nominated contractor. Ensure that vehicle is maintained as per manufacturers recommendations.
g. Purchase and inventory of spares :
Purchasing minor spares such as nuts and bolts, chrome polish and other low cost items through petty cash, maintaining stock level and inventories and standard spare parts in the pick-up. Carry out physical verification once in six months and identify the reasons for variation if any.
h. Maintenance of tools and instruments :
Maintaining assigned personal tools and equipment.
i. Electronic Repairs :
Carry out repairs of all electronic components of various models of dispensers, fire alarm panels, POS system both at site and at workshop. Also repairs PCBs to supplement separate requirement to avoid expensive import. Should be competent to handle these specialized skills and jobs.
j. Modification of dispensers:
Carry out necessary modification to convert a single product dispenser to a two product dispenser and vice versa to meet the operational exigencies as per manufacturer’s recommendation.
Minimum Requirements:
