Context
The Mathematics Teacher - GCSE A Level will support student achievement by delivering engaging Mathematics lessons that build confidence, problem‑solving ability, logical reasoning, and examination readiness. This role combines strong subject knowledge with modern classroom practice, digital learning tools, and a commitment to sustainability values within teaching.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Mathematics to secondary students, with a strong focus on GCSE and A Level curriculum delivery.
- Plan structured lessons that develop numeracy, algebraic reasoning, geometry, statistics, calculus, problem‑solving, and mathematical communication.
- Prepare students for internal assessments, external examinations, coursework expectations, and higher‑level Mathematics progression.
- Use creative teaching strategies to make complex mathematical concepts clear, practical, and engaging.
- Promote analytical thinking, independent learning, resilience, accuracy, and confidence in mathematical problem solving.
- Integrate sustainability themes where appropriate to connect Mathematics learning with real‑world applications and responsible global awareness.
- Use assessment data, classwork, homework, and examination performance to identify learning gaps and improve student outcomes.
- Provide targeted support, extension tasks, and differentiated learning for students with varied academic abilities.
- Apply educational technology, interactive tools, and digital resources to enhance lesson delivery and student engagement.
- Build strong professional relationships with students and parents through clear communication and regular academic feedback.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive, and well‑managed classroom environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve curriculum planning, teaching practice, departmental performance, and school‑wide learning goals.
- Support enrichment activities, Mathematics competitions, academic clubs, and wider student development where required.

- Follow safeguarding policies and promote the welfare, wellbeing, and protection of all students.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor of Education is preferred.
- Relevant Mathematics degree with PGCE, PGDE, or an equivalent teaching qualification is acceptable.
- Proven experience teaching GCSE and A Level Mathematics.
- Strong understanding of secondary Mathematics curriculum standards, examination requirements, and assessment practices.
- Ability to teach Mathematics with clarity, creativity, enthusiasm, and strong subject confidence.
- Excellent IT skills with the ability to use digital learning tools, classroom technology, and data systems effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Interest in professional growth, leadership development, sustainability, and long‑term career progression.
- Ability to create inclusive learning experiences that challenge high achievers while supporting students who need additional guidance.
