Job description

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Material Specialist to join our dynamic team in Abu Dhabi.

This role will focus on the selection, testing, and development of materials used in aerospace systems, specifically in electronic warfare applications.

As a Material Expert, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the performance, durability, and reliability of materials in demanding environments, contributing to the success of cutting-edge technology in aerospace and defense systems.

Key Responsibilities:

· Material Selection & Evaluation of performance characteristics of metals, composites, ceramics, polymers, and other advanced materials to ensure they meet design and operational requirements, including standards and regulatory compliance

· Testing & Analysis i.e mechanical, thermal, electrical, and environmental testing and recommend improvements or alternative materials.

· Collaboration with Engineering Teams: Work closely with the R&D engineers and product owners to support material selection for new designs.

· Failure Analysis & Problem Solving: Investigate material failures in existing systems, identifying root causes and suggesting corrective actions or design modifications. Utilize failure analysis techniques to improve material integrity and reliability.

· Innovation & Continuous Improvement

Qualifications:

· Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Ph.D. is a plus.

· Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience working with materials in aerospace, defense, or electronic warfare applications. Strong background in advanced materials, including composites, metals, ceramics, and polymers used in high-performance aerospace systems.

Knowledge & Skills:

· Expertise in material properties and behavior under various environmental conditions (temperature, pressure, radiation, corrosions, etc.).

· Familiarity with material testing standards and methodologies.

· Experience with electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in the context of aerospace and EW systems.

· Proficiency in CAD software, material simulation tools, and failure analysis techniques.

· Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

· Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with experience working in multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Skills:

· Experience with advanced composite materials and additive manufacturing (3D printing) in aerospace.

· Knowledge of the latest trends and developments in electronic warfare technologies and their material requirements.

· Familiarity with high-reliability material certification processes.
