Title: Materials & Corrosion Engineer

Key Consideration: Proven experience in Front End Engineering Design (FEED), Pre-FEED and Detailed Engineering Design (DED) for offshore Oil & Gas projects. Good knowledge and understanding of the material selection, material adequacy checks, degradation mechanisms, corrosion control strategies and the ability to manage complex projects.

Job Purpose
Provide technical leadership for Materials & Corrosion Engineering design during FEED and detailed engineering phases in oil & gas projects. Preparation of Materials & Corrosion deliverables to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions. Develop and review material selection philosophies, corrosion control strategies, and material specifications. Oversee integration with process, piping, mechanical, and multi-discipline interfaces; ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. Drive quality and schedule adherence, and ensure robust M&C deliverables across the project phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare Material Selection Reports, Material Selection Diagrams, Corrosion Control Manual, Material Adequacy Checks, Philosophies, Corrosion Monitoring & Chemical Injection Philosophies & Specifications, Cathodic Protection Scope of Work, Material Take Off and Design Calculations.
- Perform corrosion rate modelling using industry recognised corrosion modelling software such as ECE 5.8 (minimum) as part of the material selection process.
- Application and Knowledge of the relevant Industry Standards/Recommended Practices such as NACE MR0175/ISO 15156, MR0103/ISO 17495-1 Providing materials and corrosion input to other disciplines deliverables, including static equipment datasheets, rotating equipment datasheets, Piping Material Specification, Piping MTO’s, P&IDs
- Prepare engineering design and implementation activities across all project phases, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering best practices.
- Participate in offshore and onshore site visits for data collection, field verification, condition assessments, and preparation of comprehensive site survey reports.
- Participate in 3rd Party Studies such as CP Adequacy Checks and workshops
- Participate in process safety studies including HAZID, HAZOP, and related risk assessments, ensuring incorporation of recommendations into engineering design deliverables.
- Interface with clients, vendors, and third-party stakeholders to ensure full compliance with project requirements and timely resolution of technical issues.
- Support preparation, monitoring, and control of discipline budgets, schedules, resource plans, and project execution strategies to achieve key project milestones.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable international and regional standards, including API, ISO, NACE, ASME, and relevant oil and gas industry codes and practices.
- Maintain awareness of emerging M&C technologies, industry innovations, and digitalisation initiatives, and recommend value‑engineering opportunities to improve project performance and lifecycle efficiency.
Experience
- Minimum 8 - 10 years of overall experience, including at least 4 years of dedicated Materials & Corrosion design engineering experience within the oil and gas industry, covering both onshore and offshore facilities in the Middle East. Demonstrated track record in delivering both greenfield and brownfield projects across offshore and onshore developments. Good working knowledge of ADNOC Group engineering standards, technical specifications, project execution requirements, and best practices. Good exposure to offshore production facilities, wellhead platforms, central processing facilities, utilities, and associated infrastructure.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy / Chemical / Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge and application of the latest corrosion modelling software tools including ECE Sound understanding of FEED and Detailed Engineering deliverables, Management of Change (MOC) processes, document control requirements, and project execution methodologies.
- Experience of preparing Project Specifications including Corrosion Monitoring, Coatings and Painting Specifications Excellent analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and engineering decision-making capabilities.
- Good skills in writing comprehensive technical reports, presentation, communication, and collaboration across engineering disciplines Strong communication, stakeholder management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
