Job description

• To prepare garments as per the client’s needs, design, preferences, and agreed specifications in an accurate manner.
• Provides advice or recommendations on garment selection, fabric types, interlining, patterns, fitting, design, etc.
• Lay out patterns on fabrics with precision, considering grainlines, patterns, and fabric characteristics.
• May develop and draft full-scale pattern for dresses and garments on paper, using paper and pencil.
• Cut the fabric according to paper pattern pieces and customer specifications, using scissors, machines, etc. accurately to minimize waste and ensure proper alignment.
• Attaching labels to various clients’ garment materials.
• Getting garment stitched as per the requirement.
• May stitch/sew garments using sewing machines, needles and threads, hand-sewing techniques, following patterns or customer instructions as or when required.
• Supervise stitching and production of garments. Tries garment, when prepared, on customer (or on model) and marks changes with chalk any alterations to be made
• Ensure garments creations, adjustments, fittings, repairs, and alterations are done with a high level of precision and care according to design requirements, specifications, and preferences.
• Accountable for the realization of the first draping from the designer’s sketch. Develop, copy, or adapt designs for garments, and design patterns to fit measurements
• Ensure realization of samples considering production technical constraints (cut, finishing, technical and upgrading solutions)
• Maintain an organized work area and ensure that all tools and materials are in good working order.
• To achieve individual and team stitching/sewing/modification/alteration targets on a daily/monthly basis
• Supervises, coordinate and execute tasks/activities/details to meet design requirements
• Ensures quality control of final garment
• May estimate how much a garment will cost to make, based on factors such as time and material requirements.
• May perform routine maintenance on sewing machines, such as oiling, cleaning, and changing needles and presser feet.
• Stay up to date on the latest fashion trends and techniques to provide the best possible service to clients.
• Communicate with Sr. Tailor or Supervisor/Manager or Fashion Designer for proper scheduling of workloads.
• To be more time efficient in doing the production and be able to deliver the finished product on time.
• Organize his/her patterns and customer orders.
