Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Communications Section Head to lead the strategic communications efforts. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive communications strategy that elevates the museum’s profile locally, regionally, and internationally. This role requires a visionary leader with strong storytelling skills, deep media relations experience, and a passion for arts and culture.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Communications

  • Develop and implement an integrated communications strategy that supports the museum’s mission and vision.
  • Align communications initiatives with institutional priorities, exhibitions, public programs, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Serve as the lead advisor on communication matters to senior leadership.

Media Relations and Public Affairs

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with regional and international media outlets.
  • Oversee the development of press materials, media kits, and key messaging documents.
  • Manage press events, interviews, and media coverage related to museum activities.

Internal Communications

  • Ensure effective internal communication across departments to foster transparency and collaboration.
  • Work with leadership and HR to communicate key initiatives and organizational changes.

Digital and Social Media Strategy

  • Lead the museum’s digital and social media strategies to grow audience engagement and visibility.
  • Guide content creation for digital platforms, ensuring consistency with the museum’s voice and branding.
  • Monitor analytics to optimize digital performance and inform strategy.

Leadership and Team Development

  • Manage the communications team, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluation.
  • Oversee the department’s budget, vendors, and project timelines.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation within the team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in communications, preferably in a cultural or arts organization.
  • Proven track record of leading successful communications campaigns on a regional or global scale.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic
  • Deep understanding of traditional, digital, and social media landscapes.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
