Job description

We are looking for an experienced Market Development Manager to join our global Academia & Government team! The main purpose of the Market Development Manager is to develop and execute a country-based plan that supports both revenue growth and content expansion in the markets of the Middle East.

In this role you will bring the dedicated cross Academic & Government country level focus and expertise to customer product and content discovery; support country level go-to market initiatives as needed, identify potential new local product and content opportunities and carry specific goals and targets that reflect this. About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments.
  1. Bachelor’s degree in related field / or equivalent work experience.
  2. At least 5 years of experience working in sales, marketing, content licensing, product development or similar roles ideally in GCC region.
  3. Fluency in both Arabic and English.

Knowledge of or experience working in Academic Library marketplace, higher education publishing, and / or education technology.

What will you be doing in this role?
  1. Develop Customer Advisory Boards in the UAE and Saudi Arabia – in collaboration with relevant internal teams to recruit members, develop agendas and support hosting local meetings.
  2. Regularly meet with local customers to identify potential new content and product opportunities, gathering high level country specific functionality requirements, gaps in our current product offerings, content, service etc.
  3. Monitor market information and provide regular updates and analysis on regional market, customer, and competitor insights.
  4. Partnering with the product management and content alliances team to identify and recommend potential new local content partners (including libraries and archives) and distributors to establish and grow licensing and distribution relationships – to include potential archival digitisation opportunities and print and eBook distribution.
  5. Collaborate with the sales team to support local pricing, packages and bundling.
  6. Support regional sales team on optimizing sales by defining recommended products to sell in existing and new sales channels.
  7. Provide cross-sell and upsell recommendations based on the whitespace and growth opportunities in the market.
  8. Analyse local competitor activities and value propositions and propose effective competitive positioning & growth plans for existing and new products.
  9. Represent the company as needed at Book Fairs & conferences.
  10. With Marketing support local market events e.g Clarivate Days, Book Days and roadshows etc with locally relevant topics and content for the agendas.
  11. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, customers and licensing and distribution partners.
About the Team

This role reports to the SVP Strategic Business Development - Publishers and works very closely with stakeholders across the Academic and Government business.

Hours of Work

This is a full-time, permanent position and can be based in UAE. This role will require hybrid working from our Dubai office (2-3 days per week in office, rest of week remote).

This position requires weekday (Monday - Friday) attendance with some scheduling flexibility available to adjust to various global time zones as needed.
