Manager Sustainability and Environment

The department's three teams - Sustainability Planning & Reporting, Aviation Emissions & Sustainability, and Corporate Sustainability & Partnerships - work across Emirates to improve our environmental performance, while fulfilling specific regulatory and reporting obligations. The department also manages relationships with organisations in the UAE and internationally, engaging in discussions on environmental and sustainability policy, science and technology. Job Purpose:

Lead the development and implementation of agreed components of Emirates sustainability and environmental programme, including strategy, management systems, reporting processes and initiatives. Work collaboratively with other managers in the team and other business units to deliver this programme, identify risks and opportunities, implement best practice, and establish monitoring and reporting.

About The Role:

• Lead cooperation with business units to identify environmental risks and opportunities, develop action plans, and implement monitoring and reporting processes, including for the Emirates Group Annual Report.
• Monitor and analyse environmental and sustainability developments, advise management on the impacts on Emirates, and develop Emirates policy positions and fact-based commentary for communications and advocacy documents.
• Oversee the development and implementation of environmental management system processes and documentation.
• Implement compliance programmes for environmental/sustainability regulatory obligations in partnership with relevant business units.
• Develop internal communications and training materials in conjunction with communications and learning & talent specialists.
• Represent Emirates in relevant industry forums and in outreach to UAE and international stakeholders in coordination with International Affairs and other relevant departments and contribute to industry advocacy efforts on environmental/sustainability policy issues.
• Ability to mentor and develop from different cultural backgrounds, promoting innovation, collaboration, and cohesion within the team.

MANAGER SUSTAINABILITY PLANNING AND REPORTING

• Lead development of Emirates environmental sustainability strategy and planning in coordination with the other Sustainability & Environment teams.
• Lead environmental sustainability reporting for Emirates and Emirates subsidiaries in conjunction with Finance ESG, including for the Emirates Group Annual Report.
• Set and maintain Emirates standards and procedures for greenhouse gas accounting and environmental sustainability reporting.
• Coordinate development, implementation and certification of Emirates environmental management system.

Qualifications & Experience

This role might be for you if you have:

• Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) related to environmental management, sustainability, environmental science, or engineering.
• 10+ Years experience in Environmental/Sustainability Management or Engineering combined with experience in Commercial/Management, Research/Analysis, Consulting, Policy Advice or similar.

You'll Have An Edge If You Have:

• Experience of working in environmental affairs, environmental management, or sustainability.
• Technical and political understanding of local and global environmental and sustainability issues.
• Experience in greenhouse gas inventories, environmental/sustainability reporting and/or environmental management systems.
• Technical knowledge of environmental issues, including climate change, emissions mitigation, and waste minimisation in an aviation context would be an advantage.
• Experience in project management and risk management.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and writing skills.
• Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
