Has established relationships with well-respected venture capital firms they have collaborated with in the past.

Experience as either a founder who successfully raised funding from a prominent venture capital firm, an operator at a top venture-backed startup, or an employee at a larger established company.

Strong experience hiring and leading large teams.

Experience with cloud technologies, including AI

As the Head of Startup Business Development - Middle East, North Africa & Sub-Saharan Africa within AWS, you will shape and impact the startup ecosystem in this region. Your responsibilities include managing a team of business development managers to drive AWS adoption and market penetration, and building strategic relationships with investors, accelerators, and incubators.

The ideal candidate will have a strong business background capable of engaging with CxO/VP-level startup executives, and a technical background to interact with CTOs and developers. They should be strategic, analytical, able to convey value propositions, and passionate about emerging technologies.

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services focus on driving revenue, adoption, and growth across various customer segments, including public sector and mission-critical applications on AWS.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Drive business insights and relationships with startups and stakeholders to promote cloud adoption.
  2. Educate startups on technical matters and how AWS can support their growth.
  3. Contribute to regional AWS market and technical strategies as part of the startup leadership team.
  4. Manage business development managers daily.
  5. Analyze market data to identify trends and inform strategy.
  6. Create vision/mission and identity for the team
  7. Collaborate across teams to ensure alignment.
  8. Ability to work in a highly matrixed environment
  9. Source deal flow from networks of startup founders, operators, and investors.

A day in the life

You will lead a team of business development managers, supporting their growth and nurturing startup relationships. You will leverage insights from your team and customer feedback to develop strategies, coaching your team to effectively communicate AWS’s value proposition.
