Job summary

ADNOC Group is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to oversee engineering activities across all project stages in Abu Dhabi. You will ensure on-time delivery within budget, uphold quality and HSE standards, and review project documents with stakeholders.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrument & Control Engineering and at least 8 years of relevant experience, including 4 years in a senior supervisory capacity within oil & gas projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Instrument & Control Engineering.
  • 8 years of similar experience with at least 4 years in a senior supervisory role; managing engineering multi-disciplinary functions for design of assets/facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the engineering team of the project through all stages in coordination with other concerned entities and Divisions of the Company ensuring compliance with Company strategies, commitments and goals.
  • Participates in the development of tender documents and provides professional expertise in the selection of the Engineering Consultant, PMC and Contractors with emphasis on pre-qualification and bid evaluation to ensure fulfilment of technical objectives, safety & quality requirements, budget & schedule.
  • Develops detailed statement of requirements (SOR) and strategy for implementation of project phases to monitor progress and timely completion.
  • Monitors contractor documentation and mediates in case of conflicting comments to resolve issues.
  • Coordinates and monitors progress by licensors, engineering and EPC contractors; identifies bottlenecks and recommends corrective actions for timely completion.
  • Ensures coordination between PMT, end user, Engineer/contractor and other agencies; ensures adherence to scope of work and specifications with cost-effective solutions.
  • Ensures best industry practices and state-of-the-art technology in equipment, materials, systems, work methods, and testing throughout the project life.
  • Ensures compliance with engineering, safety (HSE) and quality policies in coordination with HSE division, PMC and Contractors.
  • Reviews contractors’ pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures and plans and supervises activities for effective coordination of multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities to meet functional objectives and develop staff.

JOB PURPOSE:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Job Specific:

  • Monitors reviewing of contractor documentation and in case of conflicting comments, mediate and resolve.
  • Coordinates and monitors the progress of work performed by licensors, engineering and EPC contractors; Identify any bottlenecks and recommends corrective action to ensure smooth and timely completion of each project.
  • Ensures proper coordination between the Project Management Team (PMT), end user and Engineer/contractor and other agencies involved in the project to ensure proper progress of the project.
  • Ensures that contractors’ strategy, plans, specifications, subcontracting strategy, methods and procedures for construction are in accordance with the scope of work and other specifications and apply cost effective and value adding solutions in these areas throughout the assigned Project.
  • Ensures that “best industry practice” and state of the art technology is applied in the selection of equipment, material, systems, work methods and testing during the life of the project
  • Ensures that Company policies for engineering, safety (HSE) and quality are addressed and being implemented in the desired fashion in coordination with HSE division, PMC and Contractors.
  • Reviews contractors pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures and plans and supervise the pre-commissioning and commissioning activities ensuring effective coordination of work by assigned multi-disciplinary teams

  • Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
  • Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.
Budgets
  • Provide input for preparation of the Section / Department budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver Section objectives.
  • Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
  • Implement approved Section / Department policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the Section’s / Department work programs in line with Company and International standards.
Performance Management
  • Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Section / Department in line with the Company Performance framework.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
  • Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
  • Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability
  • Comply with the ADNOC Onshore/ ADNOC HSE procedure requirements
  • Report all incident and occupational illness to line supervisor.
  • If aware of any unsafe practice or condition, or if in any doubt about the safety of any situation, immediately consult their Line supervisor.
  • Carryout the emergency responsibilities in line with the respective roles as per the emergency organization.
Reports
  • Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports for Company Management

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualification
  • Bachelor Degree Mechanical/Electrical/Instrument & Control Engineering.
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
  • 8 years of similar experience with at least 4 years in a relevant senior supervisory role; managing engineering multi-disciplinary functions for the design of the assets/facilities, exposure to preparation of Front End Engineering and Design packages within the Oil & Gas industry.
