Job description

Job Description

Responsible for overseeing the development, submission, and implementation of dans safety assessments/cases and changes related to operational systems, equipment, or procedural updates.

Ensures that operational and technical changes are introduced safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and internationally accepted safety management principles.

Obtains GCAA regulatory approvals for all applicable operational and technical changes. Provides operational and technical guidance and leadership for tasks that may impact dans's safety performance.

Prepares safety assessments/cases for submission to the GCAA to secure operational and technical regulatory approval for significant changes to the ATC system.

Acts as the focal point for project safety assessment/cases issues within dans.

Qualifications
Knowledge:
  • Degree/diploma in a relevant Air Traffic Control or Air Traffic Engineering field from an accredited college.
  • Recognized qualification in Aviation Safety Management or a relevant alternative.
  • Extensive knowledge of dans SMM, departmental manuals, ICAO and GCAA civil aviation rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of Air Traffic Control and/or Air Traffic Engineering.
  • Experience in safety assessment/case development.
  • Understanding of ATS workplace systems.
  • Hazard/risk analysis and control methodologies (e.g., HAZID/HAZOP).
  • Familiarity with GCAA and ICAO regulations, safety management systems, and procedures.
  • Proficiency with GCAA E-Services.
  • Knowledge of basic and advanced safety management systems.
  • Auditing requirements.
  • Understanding of Human Factors issues.
Experience:
  • Validated ATC ratings in both Aerodrome and Approach Radar control with at least 10 years of operational experience.
  • Alternatively, at least 10 years of ATES operational experience at a major international airport.
  • Experience in developing aviation safety assessments/cases and applying aviation SMS, including safety analysis and risk assessment.
  • Experience dealing with regulatory authorities.
  • Proven leadership in managing diverse teams within an ANSP.
  • Classroom Instructional Techniques (CIT).
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with risk assessment tools (e.g., BowTie).
