Job Description
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Lead day-to-day IT operations, ensuring all systems, hardware, and networks run efficiently
- Oversee integration and performance of property management, point-of-sale, and reservation systems
- Manage IT infrastructure setup, particularly during the pre-opening phase of the hotel
- Provide timely technical support to hotel departments, minimizing system disruptions
- Align IT strategy with hotel goals by working closely with senior leadership and operations
- Monitor and implement cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive data and system integrity
- Track technology-related budgets, balancing cost control with high standards of IT performance
- Train, supervise, and guide the technology team to ensure operational excellence
- Build and maintain vendor relationships and manage technology contracts and upgrades
What Skills Are Needed for a Manager of Technology in a Hotel?
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL, CISSP) are advantageous
Experience:
- At least 5 years in IT management, including 3+ years in a managerial role within luxury or lifestyle hotels
- Demonstrated pre-opening hotel experience and infrastructure setup success
- Strong experience with hospitality platforms such as OPERA, HMS, CRS, or similar PMS
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity, system integration, and IT troubleshooting
- Strategic thinker with a solutions-driven mindset and attention to detail
- Team leadership and cross-departmental communication skills
