We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as a Manager, Financial Reporting.
Job Overview:
The Financial Reporting team is responsible for managing Reporting Developments, performing consolidation, and preparing and publishing financial statements for external stakeholders including regulatory authorities. The team is responsible for end-to-end ownership of key deliverables such as preparation and analysis of consolidated financial statements, review and implementation of any change in financial disclosures, coordination with senior stakeholders at regional and group level to obtain sign-off from stakeholders, delivery of Board papers and involvement in accounting policy matters.
The incumbent will be responsible for managing the Financial Reporting operations (IFRS and FINREP) for MENAT. The role will be a key support to the Head of Financial Reporting MENAT in managing the delivery as well as playing an active role in various transformation projects and ensuring a strong control framework for HBME Financial Reporting team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Interpreting new regulatory financial reporting requirements in partnership with the Global reporting developments, design and policy teams, and implementing processes necessary to deliver.
- Performing analytical review (in line with IFRS and FINREP) and providing assurance on the quality and accuracy of data to be used for preparation and publication of financial statements and associated disclosures. The process involves performing detailed review and analysis, and logical checks to ensure there is reasonableness and consistency in data submissions, as well as identifying any material errors and omissions.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, such as Business Finance Heads, Financial Controller, the auditors, Tax, Finance teams, Legal, HR, Company Secretary.
- Preparing and finalizing Board papers before finalization by Head of Financial Reporting.
- End-to-end accountability for Financial Reporting production of assigned processes and review with senior management.
- Leading the Annual Report and Accounts production processes for assigned entities within the region including obtaining sign-offs from stakeholders and clearance from external auditors.
- Managing the audit process for financial statements through coordination with the audit team and senior managers. Monitoring any audit issues arising and managing the process for resolution providing support and guidance to Finance teams for the resolution of issues or escalation for technical guidance.
- Managing/preparing specific documentation required by auditors for completion of their audit work e.g. going concern assessments, impairment assessments, Letters of Support, management representation letter, etc.
- Owning the reporting issues and driving the closure with stakeholders.
- Instructing, guiding, and managing the team members in offshore locations for efficient production.
- Maintaining a strong control environment (including SoX controls) and process governance to ensure regulatory demands are met and appropriate documentation is maintained.
- Delivering on the standardization and simplification initiatives through process synergies and realization of cost savings through process re-engineering.
- Supporting the production of existing and designing new financial reporting information requirements and disclosures (ensuring best practice and compliance with listing requirements and regulatory standards).
- Understanding the consolidation mechanism of complex and granular financial information required for IFRS and FINREP reporting purposes.
- Identifying opportunities to increase efficiency and consistency of process.
- Being flexible with duties to manage the peaks in the process.
- Responding to queries from senior-level management and auditors as required.
- Business partnering with subject matter experts in finance and other functions.
RequirementsExperience & Qualifications:- Graduation degree is REQUIRED- to secure a UAE Visa and Work Permit.
- A qualified Chartered Accountant with evidential post-qualification 10+ years' work experience in accounting/financial reporting and global consolidation.
- Proficient with the understanding of IFRS.
- Good understanding on consolidation of accounts.
- Ability to manage the service delivery of designated processes.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word) and other Finance ERPs.
- Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of, and experience in planning and organizing techniques as well as in problem-solving techniques.
- Personal presence and able to command respect at a senior level.
- Experience in a range of business and operational processes across the breadth of the financial services environment.
- Strong ability to identify and mitigate risks and apply appropriate controls.
- Experience delivering to internal stakeholders such as internal auditors; business functions; etc.
- Commercially minded and ability to make decisions in a timely manner.
