Job description

Job Purpose

To coordinate with all stakeholders and implement the new credit risk management standards (CRMS). This includes reporting the gap analysis to the central bank and following up on action plans to address all gaps. To take ownership of all risk reviews conducted by the Chief Risk Officer as per CRMS. Assist with the functioning of the distressed asset committee (DAC), including organizing meetings, documenting minutes, and following up on action points. Coordinate with teams to provide necessary information to the Board as per CRMS requirements. Coordinate month-end provisions with finance and business teams. Assist in governing credit risk activities, including central bank audits.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Policy and Procedures review and implementation: Review and implement changes prescribed in CRMS. Assist in reviewing policies related to Credit Risk, including the credit risk framework and policy (CRFP), Special Assets management, Remedial Management, Delegated Authorities for Lending, Marine Finance, Risk Rating, Retail Banking, and other areas as required.
  2. Review of credit proposals: Review proposals, green light memos, and related documents for the Chief Risk Officer. Document key issues and provide recommendations to senior management and CRO.
  3. Tracking past dues and parameters: Establish, maintain, and monitor credit risk triggers across all portfolios. Ensure disciplined monitoring and highlight exceptions or variances to line managers.
  4. Assist with credit assurance reviews: Prepare credit assurance plans, conduct reviews, and suggest policy amendments based on findings.
  5. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP): Develop and recommend improvements for credit risk processes to enhance departmental efficiency.
  6. Credit Risk Management Presentation: Assist in preparing monthly reports for review by senior committees, highlighting sector/industry exposures and regulatory limit breaches.

Other Accountabilities

  1. Audit Coordination: Provide updates on audit action items and assist during audits and examinations.
  2. Risk Management MIS Reports: Prepare and finalize reports for the Risk Management Department and ensure compliance with Board reporting requirements.
  3. Credit provisions forecasting: Coordinate with finance and other teams to finalize monthly provisions and forecast annual requirements, exploring automation options.
  4. Projects: Support ongoing credit risk projects through coordination and meetings with business units, vendors, and IT.
  5. Distressed Asset Committee: Assist in meetings, minute writing, follow-up, and closure of open items.
  6. Additional Projects: Conduct or assist with stress testing, scenario analysis, and platform implementation as advised by CRO.

Education

Graduate/Post-Graduate in Finance or Chartered Accountant qualification.

Experience and Skills

Minimum 5-6 years in a credit or risk role within a UAE bank, with overall banking experience of at least 15 years. Experience in credit policies, underwriting, and approval processes is necessary. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and good analytical, communication, and presentation skills. A certification as Chartered Financial Analyst is a plus.
