Manager, Communications (Upstream)

JOB PURPOSE:

Supervise, plan and execute ADNOC Group’s communication activities and strategies relating to the Upstream Communications in order to promote their activities and brand including increasing awareness and enhancing visibility and reputation. Represent Upstream in Communication/Public Relations functions and participates in the compilation of information related to Upstream Business line, ADNOC or the Oil & Gas industry for further developing customized communication solutions for improving visibility and brand reputation.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Job Specific Accountabilities

1. Drive strategic communications for the upstream business which supports business objectives and ADNOC’s corporate narrative.
2. Assist in the design, development and approval of communication materials, in alignment with the strategy narrative, using the best channels in order to ensure promotion of ADNOC’s brand.
3. Supervise or create written deliverables including newsletters, issue briefs, blog pieces, and reports and ensure communications deliverables adhere to brand identity standards. Ensure the consistent and accurate delivery of key business messages to the defined internal audiences.
4. Identify key issues in the implementation of business lines communications on an ongoing basis, assist in the development of specific communication plans where necessary, and ensure that these issues are appropriately included in relevant regular communications activities for resolution.
5. Supervise production of posters, flyers, brochures, web pages, etc. related to corporate events and communications programs including arranging promotional gifts, incentives and sponsorship as appropriate.
6. Prepare and present materials including corporate film production, intranet and web site content and conference speeches for senior management, in order to convey key messages and new developments.
7. Develop and oversee high quality content for Upstream and related Group Companies/ corporate functions are integrated and aligned with the overarching Group Communication strategy.
8. Develop strong relationships with the appropriate internal stakeholders to implement communication plans and activities in Upstream and related Group Companies/ corporate functions in order to ensure alignment with their business objectives, strengthen awareness, reputational risk matters, business needs and promote the function’s brand.
9. Provide functional direction in the development and maintenance of the content for Upstream Communications.
10. Deputize for the VP, Upstream communications and lead a team of two Specialists (direct reports).

Supervision

1. Plan, supervise, coordinate and deliver all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
2. Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.

1. Provide input for preparation of the Function / Divisional budgets, assist in the implementation of the approved Budget, and work plans to deliver objectives.
2. Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.

1. Implement approved Function / Divisional policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the work programs in line with Company and International standards.

1. Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Function / Division in line with the Company Performance framework.

1. Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
2. Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.

1. Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures, controls, applicable legislation, and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.

1. Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports for Company Management.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications or equivalent.

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

1. 10 years of experience, in progressive and senior-level roles in corporate communications within an oil and gas industry or in a large-scale organization with complex and multi-sectorial business operations, at least 6 years of which should have been in a supervisory position.
2. Strong knowledge of communication strategy development and implementation experience.
3. Hands on knowledge and experience of delivering all aspects of the marketing/communication mix particularly creating promotional literature, event management and use of various media tools.
4. Knowledge of ADNOC’s operations and various sectors, and ability to lead the delivery of tailored solutions in line with specific business requirements.
5. Strong knowledge of market and using behaviour analysis tools.
6. Strong written communications skills.
