The Opportunity

We are seeking a strategic and experienced Manager - Backend Engineering to lead and grow our backend engineering team. The role involves overseeing the development of robust, scalable, and secure backend solutions while fostering a high-performance engineering culture.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

1. Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of backend engineers, fostering collaboration and innovation.
2. Engineering Execution: Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of backend systems, ensuring high performance and scalability.
3. Strategic Planning & Execution: Collaborate with product managers and designers to define project requirements and timelines.
4. Collaboration & Communication: Act as the liaison between the frontend team and other stakeholders.
5. Technology Trends: Stay informed on emerging technologies and development trends, applying them to drive innovation and technical excellence.

Skills And Attributes For Success

Performance will be assessed based on measurable achievements, such as cost savings, reductions in productivity loss, defect-free delivery, adherence to policies and standards, and customer satisfaction scores.

Qualifications

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Artificial Intelligence, Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
2. 10+ years of experience in backend engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
3. Proven track record of building and managing high-performing engineering teams.
4. Expertise in designing and maintaining high-performance, low-latency backend systems in Java, Golang, Python or similar technologies.
5. In-depth knowledge of databases (MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and modern architecture patterns like microservices and event-driven systems.
6. Familiarity with distributed systems, hybrid cloud environments, Docker, and tools like Kafka and Elastic Search.
7. Skilled in implementing automated testing platforms, CI / CD, and DevOps practices.
8. Proficiency with version control systems like Git and understanding of agile delivery methodologies.
