Job description

Job Purpose

Assist by overseeing and coordinating maintenance support services contractors carrying out welding, rigging and lifting, scaffolding, leak seal, Non Destructive Examination (NDE), pressure vessel, Foreign Material Exclusion (FME) and civil maintenance and improvement activities for the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) as per the regulatory requirements, operating policies and principles, nuclear standards for nuclear safety, industrial safety, and environmental protection.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Execute and support maintenance support job tasks in a timely manner and with quality to achieve the highest level of safety and reliability (including maintenance support services contractors).
  • Conduct inspections, repairs, maintenance, modifications, and rebuilds of plant equipment and associated structures as directed by the Section Head to ensure alignment of support maintenance activities.
  • Analyze equipment deficiency, human performance and industrial safety events to establish corrective actions to prevent reoccurrences.
  • Follow industrial safety, nuclear safety, radiation safety, human performance and regulatory compliance requirements to promote a safety conscious environment.
  • Endorse training, industry benchmarking, and World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) best practices to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Follow a resource loaded implementation schedule to accomplish required maintenance.
  • Implement maintenance programs and procedures to provide a high level of plant reliability.
  • Perform work in a manner that results in radiological exposure being as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) to meet ALARA goals.
  • Provide support in the mobilization of the maintenance support services contractors to ensure maintenance support activities are aligned and safely carried out.
  • Oversee the welding activities and maintain craft qualifications and review welding procedure, process and documentation.
  • Supervise the workers in hoisting and moving loads according to the standard to ensure safety for the workers and the equipment and inspect equipment for rigging and lifting to validate their TPC.
  • Inspect quality of scaffolding materials which include Tubes, Boards and Fitting to ensure they comply with Nawah standard and select or identify suitable type of scaffolding for the safe execution of works in live operating plant.
  • Oversee the online Leak-Sealing repairs recommending the suitable techniques and equipment for leak sealing, pipe wrap etc.
  • Examine the physical properties of materials and components to detect corrosion, crack, flaws, and other imperfections which could lead to unreliability in performance or failure to the component or material.
  • Promote safety by inspecting and evaluate gas mains to determine that rate of flow, pressure, location, construction or installation conform to standards.
  • Enhance workers knowledge and behavior in the FME prevention techniques and prepare station personal for external evaluation.
  • Oversee construction and maintenance of the buildings structures and infrastructure and ensure meeting the relevant codes and standards.
Outage and Emergency Response Organization (ERO) Support
  • Support outage and/or the ERO, as assigned, to ensure safe, reliable and continued operations; this may require shift work/off hours support.

The incumbent is expected to perform standard activities as per attachments 4 & 5 in the Job Description procedure (relating to Health, Safety and Environment, Security and Business Continuity, People Management, Excellence and Quality ManagementResponsibilities & Accountabilities (contd.).
