Maintenance Assistant

The Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for supporting the maintenance team in various tasks related to the upkeep of machinery, tools, and facilities. This role requires hands-on involvement in routine inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance activities across multiple sites. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced technicians and engineers to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assist in performing routine maintenance checks on equipment and machinery.
2. Support the maintenance team in diagnosing mechanical issues and implementing effective solutions.
3. Conduct minor repairs on tools, machinery, and facility infrastructure as needed.
4. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and parts used.
5. Ensure all work areas are kept clean and organized to promote safety.
6. Collaborate with other departments to schedule maintenance activities without disrupting operations.
7. Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to equipment operation and safety protocols.
8. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff members or management.
9. Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels of tools and supplies.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required

1. High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training is a plus.
2. Previous experience in a maintenance role within construction or engineering environments is preferred.
3. Basic understanding of mechanical systems, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC systems, or similar fields.
4. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues effectively.
5. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members across various departments.
6. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
7. Familiarity with safety regulations related to construction sites is essential.
8. Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely.
