Machine Operator (Steel Works)

Location: GCC, GCC.

Qualification: ITI or Trade Apprenticeship or Higher Secondary Education.

Department: Shipyard

Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a machine operator in shipyards or heavy fabrication industries, or candidates with only secondary education and 3 years of shipbuilding/offshore structure fabrication experience.

Job Description:

• Execute steelworks machine-related jobs according to specifications and requirements, completing tasks productively and safely, adhering to company standards and management systems.
• Read work orders and production schedules, ensuring tasks are carried out as per schedule.
• Perform pre-start inspections of machinery, complete checklists, and report abnormalities.
• Check materials before use to ensure standards are met and report damages.
• Conduct risk assessments (such as Take 5) in work areas, understanding and controlling risks in collaboration with supervision.
• Operate machinery including bending machines, pyramid rollers, roll press machines, drilling machines, grinding machinery, shearing machines, flange press machines, cold saw cutting machines, and punching machines.
• Follow departmental policies, processes, SOPs, and instructions for controlled and consistent work.
• Ensure work area preparation and housekeeping are maintained safely and diligently.
• Comply with safety, quality, and environmental policies to ensure a healthy work environment.
• Prevent material wastage.
• Maintain machines and report issues immediately. Take initiative for self-development through training and education.
• Follow daily operational procedures related to own job.
• Prioritize safety and wellbeing of oneself and colleagues, adhere to health & safety protocols, participate in wellness programs, and report concerns promptly.
• Perform other duties or assignments as directed.
