Role
As a Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for the comprehensive planning, coordination, and execution of all logistics activities. This role is critical in ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of materials, equipment, and resources to the construction site, supporting the project's progress and adherence to the master schedule. You will work closely with the PMC team, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to optimize logistics operations and minimize disruptions.
What this job involves
- Develop and implement a comprehensive logistics plan aligned with the project's master schedule and budget.
- Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to determine optimal logistics routes, storage locations, and handling procedures.
- Develop and manage logistics risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Forecast material and equipment requirements and ensure timely procurement.
- Material & Equipment Management:
- Oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of all materials and equipment on site.
- Implement and maintain an inventory management system to track material availability and usage.
- Coordinate with suppliers and contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Manage on-site storage facilities and ensure proper handling and preservation of materials.
- Manage the movement of heavy equipment around the site.
Transportation & Traffic Management:
- Plan and manage transportation logistics, including the scheduling and coordination of deliveries.
- Develop and implement traffic management plans to ensure safe and efficient movement of vehicles on site and surrounding areas.
- Coordinate with local authorities and regulatory bodies to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
- Optimize transportation routes to minimize costs and delivery times.
Site Logistics & Coordination:
- Coordinate with construction teams to ensure seamless integration of logistics operations with construction activities.
- Manage site access and security related to logistics operations.
- Establish and maintain clear communication channels with all stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers, and the PMC team.
- Resolve logistics-related issues and conflicts in a timely and effective manner.
- Manage waste removal from site.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols for all logistics operations.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards.
- Ensure all logistics activities are conducted in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all logistics activities, including delivery schedules, inventory levels, and transportation costs.
- Prepare regular reports on logistics performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Document all logistics-related procedures and processes.
- Manage all logistics related paperwork.
Desired skills and experience for this
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, or a related field.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in logistics management, preferably in large-scale construction projects, ideally residential villa projects.
- Proven experience working with PMCs and managing complex logistics operations.
- Strong knowledge of logistics principles, practices, and regulations.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in logistics software and tools.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of local regulations and permitting requirements.
- Experience with large scale earthworks, and infrastructure projects is highly valued.
